Mixed Martial Arts is not a sport which is known for its participants having long healthy careers. In fact, most fighters face early retirement due to the damage that they take throughout their career in one of the most taxing sports in the world.
While it has come a long way from the accusations of 'human cockfighting' that were leveled at it in the early days, and there are many precautions taken for the safety of competitors, fighters can still be grievously injured during the course of a fight.

#4 Diego Sanchez
Diego Sanchez is the latest fighter to join the others at 28 fights in the UFC, after his bout at UFC 228 this weekend. He won the fight he was in against Craig White, coming off two consecutive losses previously.
In his first fight of the year, Sanchez set the record straight by picking up a win in the Early prelims of the night. He won via Unanimous decision after leaving his opponent bloodied. This win should put him in a better light, and the next fight might be in a more prominent section of the card.
He started his career with after his performance in the reality show, The Ultimate Fighter. He debuted at UFC 54, and since 2005 has been a constant fixture in the UFC.
#3 Jeremy Stephens
With Jeremy Stephens, there is no surprise that he is in a list of fighters with the most UFC fights in their entire career. Stephens started training as an amateur in Mixed Martial Arts as early as 16 before he moved on to full-time training when he turned 18.
His UFC debut in 2007 did not go as well as could be hoped, as he lost via armbar to Din Thomas at UFC 71. He was not someone to be discouraged by one loss and went on to have 28 more fights, bringing his total fights for UFC up to 29, a number that was a record until this Saturday Night.
His most notable win came when he defeated Rafael Dos Anjos, but since then he has fought in many more bouts and has become a veteran at the age of 32. His last fight was in July on Fight Night, where he was unable to keep his three-fight winning streak going, and lost to Jose Aldo in the very first night via Knockout.
#2 Michael Bisping
Michael Bisping is one of the more well-respected fighters to have ever fought inside a UFC Octagon. Time and his fights have taken a toll on the fighter, something that is evident from a retina injury that he suffered during a fight with Belfort, the effects of which he still suffers from till this day.
After ten fights outside the UFC, with promotions and events like Pride and Glory, CWFC and Cage Rage. However, with ten fights under his belt, and no losses, he made the jump to UFC in the UFC Fight Night, Team Shamrock vs Team Ortiz Finale. With a win during his debut in 2006 against Josh Haynes, there was no more looking back for him.
Despite having won several fights, there were losses along the way for him, as he made his way to 29 bouts in the UFC. With 20 victories, and 9 defeats, and with the last two defeats coming back to back, it was evident that at 39 years of age he was no longer a viable competitor.
He finally retired after losing his last fight in 2017, after facing Gastelum as a replacement for Anderson Silva. The retirement was announced the following year in May.
#1 Jim Miller
Jim Miller is quite possibly one of the most impressive men on the UFC roster. This is not only due to the fact that he has fought in more UFC bouts than any other man in the company, it is the fact that at age 35 he has already fought 30 times in the UFC, with a total of 40 fights under his belt if outside bouts are also included.
He set the record last Saturday night when he defeated Craig White in the prelims. Coming off four straight losses, the win will give him confidence and was a good way to mark the special occasion for him.
With 1 No Contest, his other 29 fights all ended with a result. He debuted for the company back in 2008, and in only a short decade has made himself a recognizable face in most UFC cards.
