Conor McGregor is known for his controversial approach to creating notoriety.

At the moment, the former UFC Lightweight and Featherweight Champion is hinting at a possible return to the Octagon after around a year away from action. He was present at the Bellator Dublin event recently where he was supporting members of the Straight Blast Gym, including Peter Queally and James Gallagher.

One of the things that the authorities were afraid of and the fans were hoping for the moment he was seen at cage-side was that he would storm the Octagon yet again. Given his history, this would not have been surprising.

McGregor has earned infamy with the many incidents which saw him make headlines for the absolute wrong reason. He was not just given the name 'Notorious', but he well and truly earned it.

In this article, we are going to talk about 5 of the most recent incidents, where 'Notorious' Conor McGregor went too far.

#5 Bellator 187

Let's begin with the most obvious one.

At Bellator 187, Conor McGregor was present to support the debut of his teammate, Charlie Ward, in Bellator. He was there as a member of the audience and was not a licensed cornerman for Ward.

In the first round, Ward knocked down his opponent and it appeared that the fight was over. Before the referee Dan Miragliotta could officially declare the fight to be over, however, Conor McGregor's excitement got the best of him. He jumped the cage and came into the cage to celebrate with Ward.

When the referee stopped him, he tried to hit the referee, at the same time, hitting the already downed opponent as well.

When he was finally separated, he straddled the cage to continue the celebration. When a Bellator official tried to stop him, he slapped him as well.

The incident was frowned upon, with McGregor not being looked at kindly.

#4 UFC 223 media day

Conor McGregor is known for going too far. That's what he does best and because he's the one who pushes the line, the fans have learned to love him for that. Unfortunately, sometimes he does that too well.

In 2018 April, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Artem Lobov had an altercation. Lobov was slapped around by Khabib. With Artem being a training partner of Conor as well as being a personal friend, McGregor took offense.

McGregor saw the incident as a slight on him and decided to take revenge.

He arrived for the aforesaid event with his friends just as the bus for the UFC 223 media day, which contained Khahib was leaving. He tried to call out Khabib and when the fighter did not answer, grabbed a dolly and threw it at the window of the bus, shattering the window, and in the process injuring several fighters who were present. Ray Borg and Michael Chiesa were left injured and unable to fight.

A warrant was issued for McGregor's arrest, and he turned himself in later that night. He was ordered to attend anger management classes and provide community service as a sentence.

McGregor was also sued by Michael Chiesa later for the incident.

UFC 229: Khabib v McGregor

The fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor was possibly one of the most hyped-up UFC crowds of all time. Khabib and Conor had more than a little bad blood heading into the fight, with McGregor and Khabib both trash-talking their opponents.

Heading into the fight, McGregor was his usual self, while Khabib was very composed. In the end, it was all for nothing, as McGregor had to tap out to Khabib into the 4th round. It seemed that Khabib had all that he wanted and for once, it was McGregor who was calm.

It would not last.

Khabib jumped the cage and attacked Dillon Danis in McGregor's corner. Inside the Octagon, Khabib's team jumped the cage and attacked McGregor. That was the last straw.

McGregor lost his cool and started throwing shots at everyone as well.

This might have gone very differently if Conor McGregor had not come into the fight with so much trash talk, but that was not the case.

Both McGregor and Khabib were punished for their involvement in the brawl, which resulted in the crowd starting to fight among themselves as well.

Conor and Khabib were handed suspensions and while Khabib just returned at UFC 242, Conor McGregor is yet to return, although he has teased it.

Being as famous as Conor McGregor is, can't be easy. No matter where he goes, he is photographed or filmed. It is enough to grate on anyone's nerves.

But McGregor was the one who crossed a line when he grabbed a phone of a fan who was filming him in Miami Beach. He took the phone, threw it to the ground and stomped on it.

He was arrested for his behavior and a suit was also launched against him, although the suit was later dropped. The charges were dismissed due to inconsistencies with the testimony, but McGregor continued to make headlines.

#1 Bar fight

Finally, the most recent and possibly most outrageous incident to come to light took place in an Irish pub. A video emerged of McGregor punching an elderly man in the face in a bar.

It appeared that McGregor had offered him a drink of his Proper Whiskey, which the man had refused. As a result, McGregor could not hold himself back at the time and threw a shot at the perceived insult at the man. The former UFC Champion was dragged away by his friends.

The police later revealed an investigation had been opened but no one had been charged.
