5 pro-wrestlers who could beat Brock Lesnar in an MMA fight

Who exactly can take out Lesnar in an MMA fight?

Brock Lesnar is pretty much the unbeatable monster when it comes to his pro-wrestling career and how the WWE continues to book him. Well, except for when it comes to his matches against Goldberg, but we’ll leave that aside for the moment.

Of course, when it comes to his MMA career, it isn’t quite the same. While Lesnar does have a decent record inside the octagon, he has never been able to replicate his monstrous success from inside the squared circle. After all, there are people just as big and just as bad as Lesnar out there in the UFC.

Now, CM Punk has made a less than successful transition from pro-wrestling to MMA and there’s no way he’s ever taking out someone like Lesnar in a real fight. But, what about some other superstars? Here we take a look at 5 superstars who could probably take down The Beast Incarnate inside the octagon:

#5 Alberto del Rio

There’s a reason why the cross-arm breaker is so feared

This is a bit of a surprising one, eh? Believe it or not, Alberto del Rio has had extensive MMA experience. The Mexican made his WWE debut in 2009, but for 9 years before that – while establishing himself in the indy scene – he also had multiple MMA bouts with the Pride promotion.

del Rio’s MMA career makes for pretty solid reading as he racked up 9 wins while suffering 5 defeats. His love affair with submissions was also born during his time in the octagon as the former WWE World Champion managed to make 7 opponents tap out.

Two of del Rio's biggest MMA moments were quite the sight to behold. The first, where he broke his opponent's arm on his debut, and the second, where he was knocked out by the legendary Cro-Cop. This is why Alberto del Rio has a pretty good shot at taming The Beast.

Despite a bit of a weight difference with Brock Lesnar, it would not be surprising in the least if del Rio managed to make Lesnar tap and pick up the win.

#4 Wade Barrett

Barrett’s boxing background is quite scary, indeed

Another surprising entry on this list for those who are unaware of Wade Barret’s background: he was a former bare-knuckle boxer. Hailing from the mean streets of England, Barrett made a name for himself as one of the toughest men around, boxing for years without any gloves or other protective gear.

While it may be tempting to dismiss the former Nexus leader as a threat in the octagon due to his admittedly minimal experience with amateur wrestling, to do so would be to invite a knockout usually administered by the likes of Anthony “Rumble” Johnson.

In a sport where so many fighters have made a name for themselves as “knockout artists”, Barrett would fit right in. Add to this, the fact that the Englishman is pretty much the same size as Lesnar, it would be bad news indeed to underestimate Mr Barrett.

#3 Bobby Lashley

Lashley has had an impressive MMA run

Former ECW Champion, Bobbly Lashley, had quite a successful run in MMA following his exit from the WWE. In fact, Lashley pretty much modelled his MMA run after the man we’re pitting him against today – Brock Lesnar.

While Lesnar was a huge name and was thrust straight into the spotlight, Lashley took the long route to the top, starting off in smaller MMA promotions before eventually signing with Strikeforce – the second-best promotion at the time.

Before eventually making a name for himself as the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Lashley amassed an impressive record of 10-2 and fought in MMA matches all across the globe – A much much better record than what Brock has with the UFC.

Despite playing second-fiddle to Lesnar when it comes to being a crossover star, it would not surprise any MMA enthusiast if Lashley took out Lesnar.

#2 Samoa Joe

Joe has trained in Muay-Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Samoa Joe is a bad man. Samoa Joa is a bad bad man. If you’d really like some more proof, take a look at what he did to Seth Rollins this past week on Monday Night Raw. But, of course, all this is pro-wrestling. There is nothing to suggest Joe would be any good at MMA, right? Wrong!

Joe has been an MMA enthusiast throughout his career and has regularly trained in Muay-Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and everyone across the world knows about his love for submissions. He is called the Samoan Submission Machine for a reason, after all.

Despite never having stepped foot inside the octagon for an official bout, Joe boasts all the required characteristics to become one of the best MMA fighters on the planet. Honestly speaking, it wouldn’t surprise me one little bit if Joe took oot bigger and badder names than Brock Lesnar.

But for the sake of this article, Samoa Joe has more than enough in his arsenal to take Lesnar down.

#1 Goldberg

Yeah, you better look scared, Brock

It had to be him. The man who has been a thorn in Brock Lesnar’s side for more than the past decade. The guy who finished Brock off in less time than in took for Mickey Gall to expose CM Punk to the world. The man who goes by the name of Bill Goldberg.

Sure, you’re gonna jump at me say, that’s all kayfabe. But, before you starting getting your knickers in a bunch, let me explain. Goldberg has been an MMA enthusiast his whole life and was, in fact, training for MMA before he was convinced to switch over into pro-wrestling back before he joined WCW.

Add to this, Goldberg is in Lesnar’s head – kayfabe or not – and the mental advantage coupled with his naturally freakish physique and MMA training can lead him to victory, yet again, against Lesnar.
