5 Real life WWE feuds that should have been settled through an MMA fight

Octagon
The octagon is an unforgiving place

World Wrestling Entertainment is a place where storylines are created, moments are made and larger than life superstars ply their trade. Meanwhile over in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, people literally lay it all on the line in the hope of being declared one of the greatest fighters on the face of the planet.

So as you can tell, they go about things a tad differently. Both companies utilise alternate techniques in which to settle confrontations, providing us with varied results. Some fights may be five round classics, and others may be a dull and lethargic affair. Some WWE matches have a lot of botches and others can tell a great story. Whichever way you look at it, neither is perfect.

So essentially, it's a bit of a give and take. Unfortunately you can't really take UFC battles and put them in the squared circle because it feels a tad watered down, however WWE feuds both scripted and behind the scenes could certainly be settled inside the octagon. Would the fight quality be good? Who knows, but it would be interesting to find out.

So with that being said, let's take a look at five WWE feuds that would be fascinating inside the octagon.

#5 John Cena vs. The Rock

John Cena The Rock
Cena and Rock’s rivalry got a little bit personal

John Cena and The Rock's feud always seemed to be a little bit more personal than we were led to believe. The two icons of the business were well and truly on their way to a big time match at some point in the future, but it just felt like the animosity went a little deeper than just a wrestling match. Eventually, it became obvious that was indeed the case.

After Cena called Rock out on a number of unscripted things on Raw, it looked like The Great One was just about ready to rip the 15-time World Champion's head off. Thankfully that didn't happen, but just imagine what would go down if these two giants of the industry actually started trading blows. Our money is on Rocky, but you just never know what Cena has up his sleeve.

Onto something that has actually gotten physical before.

#4 Goldberg vs. Chris Jericho

Goldberg Chris Jericho
Goldberg and Jericho’s feud is common knowledge at this point

As we all know, Goldberg and Chris Jericho aren't the best of friends. Going back to their days in WCW they had some troubles over the fact they didn't work together, and upon their reunion in WWE things backstage got a little bit heated. So heated, in fact, that Jericho actually choked Goldberg out during an altercation which surprised many in the locker room.

Jericho himself admits that this was a desperate move and that he got lucky, so it'd be interesting to see what would happen if this took place again this time in the UFC. Maybe Goldberg would destroy Y2J within minutes or perhaps things would be a little more even once again, who knows. One thing is for sure though - you don't want to mess with Jericho.

From two men that came to blows to two that just didn't like each other.

#3 Triple H vs. CM Punk

Triple H CM Punk
According to Punk himself, Triple H “never liked him”

Triple H and CM Punk, as far as we can tell, never really got along. During the infamous Colt Cabana podcast Punk highlighted the fact that HHH went over him back in 2011, in addition to detailing their conversation on the night that Punk walked out of the company. Simply put, it would seem as if there was a consistently awkward tension between the two superstars.

Now logistically this seems like a mis-match, but you've got to consider the fact that Punk now has some MMA experience. Sure his first fight wasn't an overwhelming success, but the Straight Edge Superstar is still a trained mixed martial artist and could probably fight circles around The Game at this point. Either way, this would be an interesting David vs Goliath war of sorts.

Onto yet another backstage battle.

#2 Booker T vs. Batista

Booker T Batista
Many stories have been told about Booker & Batista’s backstage brawl

If you square Booker T up against Batista, it seems like a relatively even match-up. However following a backstage altercation many years ago we found out that it wasn't really the case, as Booker T got the better of Big Dave with many onlookers being surprised at the outcome.

Whether or not they like each other now is an entirely different story, because the fact of the matter is that we want to see a rematch.

Inside the octagon things may indeed be different, with Batista having a slight advantage in that environment due to his 1-0 MMA record. Unfortunately the fight was against a journeyman so we didn't really get to see what he could do against some more serious opponents, but nonetheless he'd probably give Booker a good run for his money if they ever faced off once again.

We finish with one of the most personal feuds in WWE history.

#1 Matt Hardy vs. Edge

Matt Hardy Edge
Matt and Edge’s feud felt extremely real

Matt Hardy and Edge have had their differences over the last decade or so and there's absolutely no getting away from that. The two because bitter rivals upon the situation with Lita in which she started seeing Edge, aka Adam Copeland behind Matt's back. WWE decided to turn this into an on-screen rivalry many years ago, but who knows whether or not the two men have reconciled.

If we had a time machine, putting these two inside of the octagon back in 2005 would've been phenomenal. The burning hatred they possessed for one another, Matt more so for Edge, would have made for an incredible fight. In terms of who would've come out on top it's hard to say, but all we know is that it'd be an absolute slugfest and we definitely want to see it.
