Okay okay, before you guys start lynching me for suggesting WWE pick Roman Reigns for something big yet again, just hear me out. Roman’s in a terrible place right now and quite honestly, it’s the promotion that is to blame rather than the big Samoan himself.

Sure, he’s a little rough around the edges and his promo work needs improvement, but overall he’s a pretty darn good wrestler. Remember his days in the Shield when they were the most over trio in all of wrestling?

Conor McGregor, on the other hand, is the biggest name in the world of MMA and one of the most popular athletes in the world today, in any sport. His ability to trash-talk and back it up with incredible performances makes him a hot product. And, in a company built on the idea of trash talking and backing it up, he would be right at home.

But, why exactly with Reigns? Why the orangutan that the WWE Universe is sick of? Here are five compelling reasons why:

#5 Roman Reigns getting knocked out

McGregor won’t need a chair to do this to Reigns

Let’s start off with something every wrestling fan in the world wants to see: Roman Reigns getting his teeth punched out.

In today’s world, Reigns is the most hated man in WWE. Making him the #30 entrant at the Royal Rumble is just the latest in a long line of booking decisions which has annoyed the fans. With how much the WWE Universe has gone through, it is more than expected that they are really looking forward to someone taking Reigns out.

So, who better than Mystic Mac? Seeing a legit MMA fighter come in and deliver exactly what the fans have been clamouring for, will go a long way in getting the WWE and Reigns himself back in the good graces of the Universe.

#4 Seeing Conor McGregor in the WWE

A match made in heaven?

While most MMA fans might not be wrestling fans, there is little doubt that a lot of WWE fans follow the world of mixed martial arts. For this vast majority, getting the opportunity to see someone like McGregor in the WWE will be an absolute dream come true.

McGregor’s flair and natural charisma would fit right in with the world of professional wrestling. He can cut a promo better than most of the current roster and has the physical skills to impress in the ring as well.

Sure, we’ve seen Ronda Rousey in the squared-circle before but there was very little in the way of action from her appearance. With Conor, on the other hand, there are a lot of different routes that the creative team can take.

#3 The hilarious promos

McGregor is magic on the mic

You know a guy is good on the mic when he single-handedly makes the UFC press conferences must-watch affairs. From the lead-up to his fight against Jose Aldo, McGregor has established himself as the biggest draw in the world of MMA through his magical mic skills.

He knows exactly what to say and when to say it and in professional wrestling, his ability on the mic is worth its weight in gold. Hell, we’ve already seen what he can do just through his Twitter account, as he successfully trolled the entire WWE roster and worked them into a frenzy. Just picture what happens when he puts his efforts into focusing on just one person in Reigns?

It would be spectacular to see Conor eviscerate the Rock’s fake cousin both on the mic and in the ring. He can be the conduit to express the frustration of millions of Reigns-haters across the world.

#2 Trial by fire for Roman Reigns

Reigns’ promo work is almost as bad as Titus O’Neil’s

Picking up from the previous point, we look at something that can be beneficial to Roman Reigns. If he is booked in a feud against the likes of Conor McGregor, there is no choice but to improve as a performer.

One of the biggest gripes fans have with Reigns is his sub-par promo work. This is something he will be able to hide against McGregor. This will be the WWE’s version of dropping someone in the deep end in order to make them learn how to swim. Except this is dropping Roman into an ocean with a shark in the form of Conor to keep him company.

There is no way around it, Reigns will either have to step up to the plate or get left behind in the dust. Either way, this works out best, as we either get to see a better version of The Big Dog or watch him fade away into obscurity.

#1 A chance to turn Roman heel

Heel Roman = Best Roman

It is a point that everyone seems to get except Vince McMahon himself: The best thing for the WWE and for Roman Reigns is to turn him heel. Admittedly, with the numerous missed opportunities to do so, it almost seems like WWE have missed the boat to make this happen. Well, they have. But, now they can build a new boat by booking this feud.

McGregor, for all his brashness and arrogance, remains a beloved figure in the world today. Pitting him against Reigns and then giving Roman the opportunity to channel that inner bad-guy can be the catalyst for the now mythical heel-turn.

Can you imagine the scenes if Roman does something along the lines of knocking out McGregor with a pair of brass-knuckles followed by a Powerbomb through a table at Wrestlemania? It will bring Roman Reigns over to the dark side, where he belongs.
