Flyweight contender Shanna Young was a breath of fresh air during the otherwise troubled UFC Vegas 64 weigh-ins, which saw four fighters falter to the scales.

Young, who weighed in at 127lbs, one pound above the official flyweight limit, was given an hour to make weight. Even on the second attempt, the fighter could only make 126.25lbs, a quarter of a pound above the allowed limit.

However, the astute professional laid down a final sacrifice in the form of a haircut to shed an additional half a pound to successfully make the 125lbs mark.

Shanna Young is scheduled to face Miranda Maverick on the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 64. 'The Shanimal' has a pro-exhibition loss against Maverick at Invicta FC - Phoniex Series 2.

With four fighters missing weight, the event is one of the all-time worst weight-in in the history of the promotion.

Four fighters, including Grant Dawson, Benito Lopez, Carlos Candelario, and Ramona Pascual, missed weight at the event. According to a report by Bloody Elbow, the bouts won't be canceled and will take place at catchweight.

The fight card will be headlined by a strawweight clash between No.3-ranked contender Marina Rodriguez and former Jungle Fight bantamweight champion Amanda Lemos.

Miranda Maverick says that she has the mental and physical edge over Shanna Young

In a recent interview with James Lynch, UFC women's flyweight Miranda Maverick boldly stated that she holds the mental and physical edge over her opponent Shanna Young in their upcoming fight at UFC Fight Night 214.

The fighter predicted that she was going to put on a dominant performance against 'The Shanimal' and already has her eyes set on the division's top fighters:

"I feel like I have the mental edge along with the physical edge. You know she came down from 135lbs so she can basically stay in the UFC is how I'm seeing it... I see myself being very dominant in this fight. I've had so much time to prepare for her as an opponent... Of course, you've got to watch out for a couple of signature moves they may have like she has that front kick that she snaps out there a lot. But I'm fighting for the next person and the next person and all those top fivers of the division, not necessarily just Shanna."
