In a recent interview with Michael Bisping, former UFC welterweight title contender Darren Till explained that newly crowned middleweight champion Alex Pereira's monstrous power is comparable to that of late UFC legend Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson.

The Scouser claimed that what the Brazilian lacked in speed, he made up for with unreal power:

"I think that Pereira is a big, strong, massive, slow middleweight... But my God, does that man carry power... It’s like, rest in peace, I don’t even want to say his name because it’s a very sad [time], but Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson. I want to give my condolences, but I’m actually going to give the example of him because he is the best example of it. That man only had to touch a little finger on your head and you’d be knocked out. I think Pereira has that type of thing.”

At UFC 281, Alex Pereira dethroned former dominant middleweight kingpin Israel Adesanya via knockout. Despite being behind on the scorecards going into the last round, 'Poatan' turned his fate around by knocking out 'The Last Stylebender' with barely three minutes left on the clock.

UFC legend Anthony Johnson passed away earlier this month following a prolonged struggle with health issues. As per Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports, the tragic passing occurred due to organ failure arising from a rare immune system disorder (Hodgkin’s lymphoma and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis).

How many knockouts does Alex Pereira have in his MMA record?

The reigning middleweight champion Alex Pereria holds six knockouts from his seven wins in mixed martial arts. The high rate of stoppages is not a surprise, considering the Brazilian's nickname, 'Poatan', literally means 'hands of stone'.

The former Glory Kickboxing two-division champion's only non-knockout win in MMA came against Bruno Silva at UFC Fight Night 203 in March 2022. Pereira won the fight via unanimous decision.

The 35-year-old holds a pro-MMA record of seven wins against one loss. His sole defeat came in his MMA debut against Quemuel Ottoni via submission.

Another testament to the Brazilian's thunderous power is that 21 of his 33 wins in kickboxing have also come via knockout.

Interestingly, 'Poatan' has been on the receiving end of a KO/TKO only twice in his storied combat sports career. Those losses came against Jason Wilnis at It's Showtime 60 in November 2012 and Artur Kyshenko at Kunlun Fight 48 in July 2016.
