Cub Swanson has a lot of work to do

Cub Swanson is back in the mix of things, as he is coming into UFC Fight Night 151 ready to take on all comers.

He will be facing a challenge as he fights Shane Burgos. He has a lot of pressure on his shoulders being on the back of a three-fight skid. He desperately needs a win, and his preparation has been optimised to achieve exactly that.

I was able to catch up to Cub Swanson before his next UFC fight and pose a few questions before him.

Catch UFC Fight Night 151 in Ottawa live on Sony Ten 2 and Sony Ten 2 HD at 5:30 AM on the 5th of May.

Q. Your recent run in the UFC has not been too successful. Is that affecting your preparation ahead of this fight?

CS: Preparation has been great. I did everything I wanted and pushed hard, but took days off when I needed. I feel like I’ve prepared intelligently and was able to work on holes in my game. I’ve seen a lot of strides in those areas. I’m very excited to put on a performance.

Q. How important is this fight for you?

CS: It’s huge for me. Being on a three-fight skid is not a position I want to be in. having it be four fights in a row with a loss to an unranked opponent is definitely not a position I want to be in.so I’m fighting for everything here.

Q. You have stated before that Bruce Lee gave you inspiration as a fighter. Are there any other figures in your life who have inspired you?

CS: I like how many tools Anderson Silva brought to the table. There have been so many. I’ve seen where other fighters have been great and tried to implement those skills into my game.
