UFC president Dana White has finally confirmed that the promotion is working towards striking a deal with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.

The undefeated (50-0) boxer announced last month that he will be coming out of retirement and explained that he has a couple of fights planned for the next year, teasing the possibility of a cross-over match-up involving UFC fighters.

Speculation spread like wildfire when Mayweather posted a photo of himself and White sitting together at a basketball game. The 42-year-old boxer even went on to reveal that he and White are working together 'to bring the world another spectacular event in 2020'.

Speaking to Jim Rome, White revealed that a verbal deal has been agreed with Mayweather and that he will sit down with the boxer's manager to get a contract signed.

“It’s true. We sat at the Clippers game. We started talking and we literally got a deal done right there on the court. And if things play out the way Floyd and I think they will, I will probably sit down with Al Haymon [Mayweather’s manager] in March and get a deal on paper. If everything goes our way, Floyd and I would be doing something in October or November.” (transcript via MMA weekly).
