UFC News: Israel Adesanya makes a big claim - 'Khabib isn’t the only who can maul people'

Israel Adesanya might be the best striker in the UFC but that doesn't mean his ground up isn't up to the mark.

The UFC Middleweight Champion was interviewed by Ariel Helwani and the undefeated fighter shared his views on a range of topics.

The most interesting quote from the interview was regarding the Last Stylebender comparing his ground-and-pound attack to Khabib Nurmagomedov's style.

Adesanya's skills on the ground have not been highlighted enough throughout his career but the charismatic Middleweight is confident that he can maul anyone on the mat, something that Nurmagomedov has based his career on.

Adesanya is coming off a resounding title win against Robert Whittaker and the champ is waiting for the UFC to unveil his first title challenger.

Yoel Romero is the favourite to go up against Adesanya next year as the Soldier of God has been aggressively pushing for the fight to happen. With Paulo Costa on the shelf, UFC could be left with no option but to book Adesanya in a showdown against the Cuban fighter.

This would also give Adesanya a chance to back his claims regarding his ground game as overcoming Romero's wrestling superiority would certainly be a big test for the Last Stylebender.
