Having made her UFC in 2017, Montana De La Rosa had finished off most of her opponents in the Octagon via submission, prior to the recent defeat that she suffered in June at the hands of Andrea Lee. The loss at UFC on ESPN+ 12 ended De La Rosa's four-fight winning streak, however, she has secured vital wins in the UFC against the likes of Cristina Marks, Rachael Ostovich and Nadia Kassem.

On the other hand, Mara Romero Borella also signed with the UFC in 2017 and in her first fight she defeated Kalindra Faria via submission but suffered a loss to Kaitlyn Chookagian. In February, Borella defeated Taila Santos via submission, however, she lost her last Octagon outing to Lauren Murphy in the third round via strikes.
