5 facts you didn’t know about Brock Lesnar

Would you dare step into any ring with him?

Brock Edward Lesnar, born in South Dakota, is one of the greatest athletes of all time, best known for dominating the WWE and the UFC. Physically gifted, he is a determined and accomplished man, capable of many sports and hobbies. He’s gone through the of toughest times, but he continues to prove that he can overcome any obstacle and come back stronger than he ever did.

No doubt that Lesnar has rightfully earned his nickname of the Beast Incarnate.

Here are 5 facts you probably didn’t know about Brock Lesnar.

#5 Brock Lesnar was severely injured during his NFL tryout

Lesnar during his NFL tryout

In 2004, Brock Lesnar was set to pursue a career in the NFL and try out for the Minnesota Vikings. Shortly before his tryout, however, Lesnar was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident.

Jim Ross had claimed that Lesnar no-sold his accident: albeit a broken jaw, a broken left hand, a bruised pelvis and a severely pulled groin, the Beast still decided to attend the NFL training camp for eight weeks.

No motorcycle accident was going to prevent Lesnar from trying out. However, his injuries did play a huge role in preventing him from dominating the NFL.

#4 Brock Lesnar is Color Blind

Brock Lesnar doesn’t exactly see in black-and-white, but he has red-green colorblindness, meaning he doesn’t see colors as vibrantly as most people can.

This prevented him from joining the military as it would have been dangerous.

#3 Brock Lesnar is a farmer at heart

A North Dakota native, Brock Lesnar loves to live that country life. He’s lived many hardships in life, but he likes to keep everything very private and simple.

Paul Heyman once said in a podcast that Lesnar isn’t into social media or any form of technology actually and that the nearest phone from him was 1.5 miles away. From the looks of it anyway, we can easily assume that Brock doesn’t like to socialize all that much.

Brock also likes shooting and collecting guns. Above is a video of the Beast doing so, and with (terrifyingly) good aim. Jeez, as if he couldn’t already kill you with his bare hands.

#2 Brock Lesnar was arrested for illegally possessing steroids

In 2001, Brock Lesnar was arrested for opening a package that contained a huge amount of steroids.

After 4 months, charges were dropped when the tests results determined that the pills that Lesnar was caught with were, in fact, growth hormones, and were actually legal.

Lesnar’s defense lawyer, Scott Cox, later cleared this misconception saying that the pills were a “vitamin type of thing”. The officers who then charged Lesnar for the illegal use of steroids were “very apologetic” after the lab tests on the pills had been released.

Brock Lesnar and steroid use will always create debate, especially within fellow professional athletes. His upcoming opponent for his UFC 200 return, Mark Hunt, heavily accuses Lesnar of being “juiced to the gills” claiming his return unjust.

#1 A foot of Brock Lesnar’s intestines were removed

Brock Lesnar was misdiagnosed in 2009 with mononucleosis. For over a year, he fought in the UFC without knowing he actually had something worse: diverticulitis.

Diverticulitis is an extremely rare and painful disease affecting the colon and causes serious complications with the digestive system. He was required to have immediate surgery in 2011, removing 12 inches of the “bad part” of his intestines.

This forced the former UFC Heavyweight Champion’s career in the octagon to be cut short for a while, and his disease made him realize that he was born to entertain in the WWE.

However, the Beast Incarnate’s success in the UFC doesn’t stop here: he’s set to make an explosive return at UFC 200 whilst still signed with the WWE. How he pulled that off? Not too sure. But he does what he wants because he’s Brock Lesnar.
