Marquez celebrates his win at the Sachsenring in Germany

Repsol Honda driver Marc Marquez has won the MotoGP at the Sachsenring in Germany. The 23-year-old’s stellar performance began at qualifying, with the Spaniard beginning today’s race from pole position.

It was a 1-2 for Honda as Marquez’ teammate Dani Pedrosa finished in 2nd, displaying stellar technique against MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi of Movistar Yamaha MotoGP who finished in third spot.

This will be Marquez’ 6th consecutive win at the Sachsenring across categories. It is his second Grand Prix win of 2015, following a win at the Circuit of the Americas earlier this year. This comes after two crash-outs at the races this year at Catalunya and Mugello at the Italian Grand Prix.

The win brings the driver’s points tally to 114. He stays 4th in the drivers’ championships, behind leader Valentino Rossi, who finished third this race and maintains his lead among the drivers with 179 points. Behind him is his teammate Jorge Lorenzo, who won 4 Grands Prix on the trot this year and stands at 166 points. Between Lorenzo and Marquez is Ducati’s Andrea Iannone, who got his career=first pole position at Mugello this year. He finished that race in 2nd.

Lorenzo himself finished the race in 4th after managing to take an early lead from Marquez, who dominated from start to finish – topping every single practice session, then taking pole and the win in clean fashion.
