In-car audio at Martinsville picks up explicit words from Chase Elliott-Denny Hamlin wreck
Elliott and Hamlin had some words with each other after a late wreck at Martinsville and scanner sounds picked up additional comments.
Chase Elliott slammed Denny Hamlin into the Turn 3 wall at Martinsville on the cool-down lap in retaliation for Hamlin wrecking him from the lead with just under three laps remaining Sunday with a trip to the championship race on the line.
The two shared some words after exiting their cars, with the pro-Elliott crowd at Martinsville booing Hamlin every time he appeared on the video board during post-race interviews. Hamlin issued an apology after the race, saying he never intentionally meant to wreck Elliott, but instead just wanted to bump him out of the lead.
During the chaos that sent the First Data 500 into overtime, other drivers commented on the controversial wreck on their team's radios and had more words as Hamlin and Ryan Blaney initiated a huge wreck at the start-finish line that collected the majority of the field.
From Matt Kenseth saying Blaney should "get punched in the head" to Dale Earnhardt Jr. saying the finish was "a f—ing mess", check out the best in-car audio from Martinsville.
The Cup circuit will be back in action next Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway with all eyes on Elliott and Hamlin.
