Kyle Busch, Erik Jones, Denny Hamlin's car chiefs suspended
The punishment has been announced for Joe Gibbs Racing drivers Kyle Busch, Erik Jones and Denny Hamlin after their cars' splitters were found not to have met specifications in pre-race inspection for the FireKeepers Casino 400 in Michigan Sunday.
NASCAR announced L1 violations for each team Tuesday as crew chiefs Mike Wheeler (Hamlin), Adam Stevens (Busch) and Chris Gayle (Jones) have each been fined $25,000 for the violations.
Car chiefs Brandon Griffeth (Hamlin), Nate Bellows (Busch) and Jason Overstreet (Jones) have each been suspended for one Cup race.
All three Joe Gibbs Racing drivers were forced to start from the back after the splitters were found to not meet rule specifications.
The drivers were not docked any points for the infractions.
Busch finished fourth at Michigan International Speedway while Hamlin came in 12th and Jones in 15th after they were forced to the back.
