Kumogakure (Village Hidden by Cloud)

Kumogakure is the Village Hidden by Clouds. As it is a part of the five great Shinobi nations it has a Kage and their leader is known as the Raikage. As the village is located in the land of lightning, many of the Kumo ninjas use lightning release techniques

Kumogakure (Hidden Cloud Village)

NameKumogakure, Village Hidden by Clouds, Hidden Cloud Village
CountryLand of Lightning
Leader (Current)Darui

Founding of the Village:

The village was founded by the first Raikage A in the land of lightning. He left a strong desire to protect Kumogakure in his bodyguard who later on succeeded him.

History of the Village:

Kumogakure was founded after the violent warring period. Just as Hashirama offered Kirigakure a tailed beast as a sign of friendship and to maintain balance, he had also offered Kumogakure a tailed beast too. While the second Hokage was in charge of Konoha, the second Raikage of Kumo wanted to formally establish peace between the villages but while doing so they were attacked by the Gold and Silver brothers which nearly resulted in the death of the second Hokage. Due to this Konoha and Kumo became enemies during the First Shinobi War in which Kumo's Kinkaku force killed the second Hokage.

Even though a peace treaty was formed between the villages in order to cut costs on the military budget, Kumo did not honor this agreement. They saw this as an opportunity to increase their power so that they could have an upper hand on the other villages if any war took place. They did this by stealing secrets and kidnapping the Shinobis from other villages. Just before the Third Shinobi War, Kumo had kidnapped Kushina to get information on how she had huge chakra reserves and obtained the Nine-Tails. However, their plan failed because of Minato. After the Third Shinobi War, they sent their Head Ninja as a cover to kidnap Hinata Hyuga so that they could obtain the Byakugan. That failed as well, as he was killed by Hiashi Hyuga in the process. Kumo did not give up, they said that they wanted Hiashi Hyuga's body in return for the death of their Head Ninja.

Another way they tried obtaining extra power was obtaining the power of the tailed beasts. They sent the Gold and Silver brothers to capture the Nine-Tails but they failed; this was before they bought the tailed beasts from Konoha. They struggled to control the tailed beasts because the jinchuriki vessels were not able to contain them and would eventually lose control of them. Capturing the Eight-Tails was a difficult task for them, as it rampaged their village every time its jinchuriki lost control. Many people were killed trying to seal it. Kumo gained control over Two-Tails and Eight-Tails, who's jinchuriki were Yugito Nii and Killer B respectively. They were successful in containing their beasts and gained a lot of importance in the village. Kumo had also built a temple where they controlled the tailed beasts.

After the Akatsuki captures Kumo's Two-Tails jinchuriki and also appears to have captured the Eight-Tails jinchuriki, the Raikage called for a Five Kage Summit over their two losses so that they could deal with Akatsuki. At the end of the meeting the Shinobi Alliance was formed to battle the Akatsuki during the Fourth Shinobi War. Kumo became the location for all the village's troops to gather their forces and settlement camps were set up.

After the war was won, Kumo started working on improving their relationship with the other villages. By the time the fifth Raikage was appointed, all the five Kages were on good terms.

Raikage over the Years:

The Raikage is Kumogakure's Kage who is the strongest Shinobi of the villages. There have been five Raikages in the village till now. The first four Raikages were given the name A and they had a partner known as B who was responsible for protecting the Raikage.

First Raikage:

A was the founder of Komogakure. He was the one who sent the Gold and Silver brothers to capture the Nine-Tails, but they failed. He also gave land in the Valley of Lightning to the Yotsuki clan for their loyalty and service.

Second Raikage:

Before becoming a Raikage, the Second Raikage A was the first Raikage's B and served him with a lot of dedication before becoming his successor. During his rule he tried to maintain peace between the villages.

Third Raikage:

The Third Raikage A was known as the strongest Raikage that the village had ever had. He battled the Eight-Tails and made a decision to seal it into his son B as he was the best candidate they had to become the beast’s jinchuriki.

Fourth Raikage:

The Fourth Raikage A was the son of the third Raikage, who was trained and groomed to succeed his father. He is quite decisive and he deeply cared about his brother, who was adopted from tryouts that were held to find someone who could match A’s power and be his tag-team partner. He makes rational decisions regarding his village.

Fifth Raikage:

Darui was the fifth Raikage. He was the student of the third Raikage and he also served as his support. During the Fourth Shinobi War he was put in charge of the First Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces.
