Founding History of the Ryūchi Cave

Not much is known about the history of Ryūchi Cave other than the fact that it is the residence of sage snakes, much like Mount Myoboku, the residence of sage toads. At some point, Orochimaru, one of the Three Legendary Sannin of Konoha (Village Hidden in the Leaves), came to Ryūchi Cave after he studied Jugo’s unique abilities. Soon after his arrival, he started training to master Snake Senjustu (Snake Sage Jutsu) under the tutelage of the White Snake Sage, the leader of Ryūchi Cave. Unfortunately for him, Orochimaru was unable to master Snake Sage Jutsu and then came up with his infamous curse mark technique as an alternative.

At some point, Kabuto Yakushi found his way to the Ryūchi Cave after he injected himself with Orochimaru’s remains. He then learned Snake Sage Jutsu under the guidance of the White Snake Sage and mastered the jutsu, surpassing his former master at least in terms of snake senjutsu.

In the New Era, Boruto Uzumaki and his companions arrived at Ryūchi Cave in search of answers to find their friend, Mitsuki. After Boruto managed to pass the test given to him, the White Snake Sage informed him about the message left by Mitsuki inside the white snake he left behind after his sudden disappearance. This was the last instance in which Ryūchi Cave made an appearance, and its current affairs are unknown.

Leaders of the Ryūchi Cave

White Snake Sage

The White Snake Sage is the current and only known leader of Ryūchi Cave. Unfortunately, not much is known about his background or his deeds due to his short and limited appearances. But, based on the limited information available, after Orochimaru found its location and arrived at Ryūchi Cave, the White Snake Sage taught him the art of snake senjutsu. Unfortunately, Orochimaru was unable to master it. Later, the White Snake Sage successfully taught Kabuto Yakushi the senjutsu after he arrived at Ryūchi Cave after injecting himself with Orochimaru’s remains.

The White Snake Sage also appeared in Mitsuki’s Disappearance Arc in the ongoing Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime. The White Snake Sage helped Boruto and his companions to discover the secrets held by the white snake left by Mitsuki before his sudden disappearance.
