Third Raikage in Naruto

The berserk attacks of the Eight-Tails was a part and parcel of A’s rule but because Kumogakure couldn’t afford to lose such a powerful war deterrent, he was compelled to hunt for a suitable jinchūriki after each attack. During one of those attacks, A fought the Eight-Tails alone in order to allow his comrades to flee.

However, he received a self-inflicted wound to the chest after collapsing on his own hand during their combat, which became his life’s disgrace. After that he made it a personal mission to confront the Eight-Tails whenever its jinchūriki lost control, eventually convincing his son to join the organization that supports him during these occasions. He chose to imprison the Eight-Tails in the Kohaku no Jōhei which resulted in his nephew’s death, in the hope that it would be more easily controlled by someone else.

Between these attacks, A held try-outs with Dodai to find a tag-team partner for his son, as was a long-standing Raikage tradition. As the exercise appeared to be failing again, he regretted the fact that this would have been unnecessary if A had a brother. He glanced at B and his kid after the dummy’s head eventually fell off, relieved that they had finally discovered a suitable candidate. When Killer B was made the jinchūriki, the Eight-Tails’ rampages came to a halt.

He also mentored Darui at some point, passing the secrets of the Black Lightning method to only him. During the Third Shinobi World War, he once confronted a ten thousand-shinobi opposing army alone for three straight days and nights in order to allow his colleagues to flee to safety. He was finally killed in this conflict, and the rank of Raikage was down to his son, A.

Fourth Shinobi World War

A was revived by Kabuto Yakushi in preparation of the Fourth Shinobi World War alongside other deceased Kage to fight against the Allied Shinobi Forces. He questioned the others about the current situation before seemingly recognising the Fourth Kazekage Rasa. The four Kage regretted having to fight shinobi from their own villages but A remained hopeful that the current generation had exceeded them since their deaths.

The next day, A and the other Kage battled against Gaara’s division, where they were challenged by a massive sand wave, which engulfed everyone except Mū. Rasa stopped the massive sand wave and they later faced Ōnoki.

Later, when Rasa was being sealed, A’s Lightning Release-Chakra Mode activated instinctively and destroyed the sealing tag. After being released from their chains, the two stormed the incoming division before revealing the specifics of their skills. A directed the opposition’s Earth Release shinobi to build defenses, while those with Wind Release attacked him furiously.

As a swarm of shinobi rushed on him, Temari and others appeared to effectively cut A into several parts. As Temari called out the Sealing Team, A regenerated before the team could intervene. When their techniques didn’t work, Dodai told Temari that they needed a stronger Wind Release user in order to defeat A. Soon, Naruto Uzumaki’s clone showed up on the battlefield.

Despite using the sun to hide his attack, Naruto’s first few tries were unsuccessful owing to A’s increased reflexes and speed, which allowed him to avoid the strike twice. On the third attempt, he was caught in the exact center of the sphere, but the harm he received was minor and he swiftly recovered before he could be bound. As he advanced on the shield resistance while activating his Hell Stab method, the allied forces rapidly created numerous strengthened defenses in retaliation but the attack easily penetrated both.

A emerged from the other side only to be attacked by an onslaught of shinobi who mistakenly believed that the element of surprise would suffice, and he proceeded to rapidly beat them before fighting the rest of the division.

After destroying the cliff where Dodai and Naruto had found refuge, A folded his fist in preparation to pound the falling Naruto, but he instead punched a rubber ball, thanks to Dodai’s interference. He pursued the ball as he believed Naruto was encased within it, which had been sent bouncing away by his previous strike. However, after catching up with the slicing ball in half, he realized it was empty and altered his course to follow Naruto.

A’s strike is dodged by Naruto using the improved reflexes and sensory abilities granted by Sage Mode and parried with a Rasengan directed at A’s left arm, while he reduced the number of fingers used in his Hell Stab technique to just one as he advanced.

The ferocity of the hit forced A to impale himself with his own attack, and as his body began to shatter, the Sealing Team acted quickly and completed his imprisonment. Later, some of Kabuto’s lesser revived shinobi attempted to open the seal by planting traps around him but they ultimately failed.

Later, when the Impure World Reincarnation technique was released, a sort of light encompassed A’s sealed body as the technique was dissolved and his spirit was returned to the afterlife.

Following the sealing of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki by Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki summoned him and the other deceased Kage from the Pure Land to assist him and the Hokage in summoning Team 7, the tailed beasts and Madara Uchiha from Kaguya’s dimension. They were later returned to the Pure Land.

A was a calm and level-headed man, and was also a man of honor, as evidenced by his wrath when Mū urged Ōnoki to take advantage of the disbanded Allied Shinobi Forces, warning him that he would not allow the alliance to be destroyed. He was also a highly proud and kind person who was willing to act as a shield to protect his comrades.

He was also a firm believer in children outperforming their parents, so much so that he encouraged his fellow revived Kage not to worry about having to fight against their fellow Shiobi because their children would be able to defeat them.

A cared deeply for the people of his town, making it his personal obligation to subdue the Eight-Tails whenever it went on a rampage and fought against the thousand enemies alone to allow his friends to flee to safety. He also admires competent ninja, as seen by his compliments to the Fourth Kazekage on having such a strong son.

A was a tall, dark-skinned man with a muscular, well-defined build. He had a full head of white hair that flowed down his back, as well as a big beard. A’s beard was significantly shorter during his previous combat with the Eight-Tails.

He had strange eyes with green irides, dark sclerae and no pupils. His face is defined by broad cheekbones and tear troughs under his eyes, as well as a prominent crease across his forehead and a mole over his right brow. A was undeniably a powerful shinobi and is regarded as Kumogakure’s greatest Raikage. He was able to defeat an army of ten thousand shinobi on his own and brought a tailed beast to a halt. So much so, that the Eight-Tails itself praised A as a powerful and resilient man.

Chakra and Physical Prowess

A had exceptional taijutsu skills, defeating numerous shinobi in a single move. He was also exponentially fast and strong, being able to escape Naruto’s extraordinary fast Wind Release: Rasenshuriken and punch a rubber ball from several meters away.

A’s most striking and known characteristic was his exceedingly durable body, which earned him the title “strongest shield”. With it, he could withstand almost any technique and simply brush off strikes that genuinely hurt him, as Wind Release methods only dealt minor damage.

He could even survive being moved by the life-threatening Heavenly Transfer Technique, a feat accomplished by only a few people. Ultimately, his own attack was the only one powerful enough to really damage him, resulting in the scar on his chest.

A also possessed vast chakra reserves, sufficient to lock the Eight-Tails within the Kohaku no Jōhei after its repeated rampages. His tremendous stamina allowed him to fight nonstop for three days and nights before collapsing which is something that an average shinobi could only achieve with the help of drug enhancers.

Ninjutsu

The precision of the method allowed him to pierce and cut through rubber despite its resistance to electricity. It is referred to as the “strongest spear”. A could use his power to sever all of Gyūki’s tails at once, as well as puncture his own exceedingly tough body.
