Sharingan is a trademark Jutsu of people who are born to the Uchiha clan. It is regarded as one of the three great visual prowesses, alongside the Byakugan and Rinnegan.

This visual prowess is linked to extreme emotions, like love and hatred. When the Uchiha experience powerful emotions, their brain produces a special type of chakra that affects the optic nerves, hence creating the Sharingan.
Once a user unlocks the Sharingan, it stays forever, even after the death of the user. In fact, these eyes can also be transplanted into people who do not belong to the Uchiha clan as well. The Sharingan gets stronger over time, each time the user experiences extreme emotions.
The different types of Sharingan are the One Tomoe Sharingan, Two Tomoe Sharingan, Three Tomoe Sharingan, Mangekyou Sharingan and the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan. Each person who owns a Mangkyou Sharingan has a different ability, with their own Susanoo.

The Sharingan can be traced all the way to one of the first Shinobi, Hagoromo Otsutsuki. He obtained it from his mother, Kaguya Otsutsuki. Hagoromo’s Sharingan only got stronger over time, eventually becoming the ultimate version, the Mangekyou Sharingan and then the Rinnegan. He would spread chakra to everyone and would be known as the Sage of Six Paths.
After Hagoromo had children, his son Indra Otsutsuki inherited the Sharingan. He would take the path of hatred after his brother, Asura Otsutsuki was chosen as the successor to the Sage of Six Paths. Indra kills two of his closest followers in order to obtain the Mangekyou Sharingan and declared war on his brother, a war that would be waged for centuries.
Years later, the two would come to be known as the Uchiha and Senju, and they would mindlessly battle each other without knowing why or how it started. It was a circle of hatred which could never be stopped. That was when two people from both clans, Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju would come to a peace treaty and would form the Hidden Leaf Village. Here the Uchiha and Senju lived peacefully. Madara Uchiha had unlocked the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan during the war, making him the first Uchiha to obtain one.
After the Nine-Tailed fox attacked the village, rumour spread that it was an Uchiha who caused it. They were treated horribly because of this, even being cut out of trade. The Uchiha decided to revolt against the Leaf, but at that time, Itachi Uchiha was ordered to kill every Uchiha in the village with the exception of his brother.
This almost caused the extinction of the Uchiha, leaving behind only Itachi Uchiha, Obito Uchiha and Sasuke Uchiha as the last three members of the clan. At this point, only Itach, Obito, Sasuke, Kakashi Hatake and Danzo Shimura possessed the Sharingan.
In the modern day Konoha, Itachi Uchiha and Obito Uchiha have already passed away. Sasuke Uchiha was the lone Uchiha for a while, until he had a daughter called Sarada Uchiha, who also possesses the Sharingan.
The sharingan has a lot of different properties. When the Sharingan is first unlocked, it is usually just one Tomoe. Tomoes are little pellets on the Sharingan which are seen on the circle. A Sharingan can have upto three Tomoes before becoming the Mangekyou Sharingan.
Each time a user experiences a heightened emotion, they gain another Tomoe. The user unlocks all the abilities of the Sharingan with only one Tomoe, but each time they gain another tomoe, their ability to perceive things grows higher. The strong emotions, while it is usually hatred, can also be things like need to protect.
The Sharingan requires an immense amount of Chakra to use if the user does not have enough Chakra control. With Chakra control, a user can precisely allocate Chakra to the Sharingan, so that it doesn’t overwhelm the user out of their Chakra.
This is the standard Sharingan which the Uchiha obtain. It is obtained eventually over time after feeling strong emotions. Each time the Sharingan gets a tomoe, its power grows.
Mangekyou Sharingan is an upgrade of the 3 Tomoe Sharingan. It is obtained only after witnessing someone they care dearly about die. Only a few Shinobi have been able to obtain this Sharingan. Each user has a unique design for their Mangekyou Sharingan, and all of them have different abilities. While Obito Uchiha could use Space-time Jutsu, Sasuke Uchiha could use Amaterasu, the eternal black flames. Overuse of the Mangekyou Sharingan can lead to blindness. It also provides the user with Kamui.
When a Mangekyou Sharingan user gives their eye to another Mangekyou Sharingan user, they gain the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan (EMS). The EMS doesn’t have a limit to how much it can be used, as it does not lead to blindness from overusing it. The EMS can only be obtained when the other person is also an Uchiha with strong blood ties to the other, like siblings. Examples are Izuna Uchiha giving his eyes to Madara and Itachi to Sasuke.
Sharingan sound begin with a reload of power. It feels like a high power coming to hit. Different Sharingan ( Mangekyo Sharingan , Sono Sharingan and Simple Sharingan ) has different sound . We could clearly feel that Itachi's Sharingan is stronger than the Sasuke's Sharingan and so the Itachi's Sharingan sound has much weight than sasuke's. These variations in sharingan sound effect cause us to feel more depth in the power of sharingan.
While the Sharingan is used mainly for heightened sense of movement, it has many different abilities that can be used. These are some of the main abilities of the Sharingan:
This ability lets the user see Chakra in opponents. While it is not as effective as the Byakugan, it can see some Chakra through the opponents. The user is also gets a heightened sense of movement. They are able to see whatever they are looking at clearly, to a point where they can be mimicked. This can be used to do things like reading lips even when you can’t hear what they’re saying. Finally, the other ability of the Eye of Insight is to copy whatever the opponent is doing. Kakashi Hatake received the name Copy Ninja thanks to this ability of the Sharingan. Sarada Uchiha is also seen copying her mother’s moves in order to counter her.
Eye of Hypnotism is the ability of the Sharingan to cast Genjutsu. Sharingan wielders, especially Uchiha, are famous for their ability to cast Genjutsu. Their Genjutsu is so powerful that they can even alter reality to their will by sacrificing an eye. It also helps in controlling opponents, like when Obito and Madara used their Sharingan to control the Nine-Tails.
Naruto and Sasuke fight at the Valley of the End for the first time. Sasuke unlocks his 3 Tomoe Sharingan and Naruto manages to grasp a bit of the Nine-Tails Chakra. Sasuke fails to kill Naruto despite knowing it will upgrade his Sharingan.
The Ultimate battle of the Sharingan, a battle of Genjutsu and flames. The different abilities of the Sharingan are explored here, until Itachi’s body gives out while fighting his brother. Sasuke gains the Mangekyou Sharingan.
The reincarnated Madara shows off his magnificent eyes while fighting the Allied Shinobi Forces in a battle of Taijutsu. His Three Tomoe Sharingan’s ability is at full display here, making it seem like he has no blindspots.
A. While Sharingan users aren’t immune to Genjutsu, they have a really high resistance to it. They can also sense Genjutsu quickly and dispel it. If the Genjutsu is strong enough, even an Uchiha can be put under one.
A. Sasuke Uchiha has an Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan in one eye while he has the Rinnegan on the other eye. The Rinnegan was a gift from the Sage of Six Paths in order to defeat Kaguya Otsutsuki.
A. No. Once a person unlocks the Sharingan, they keep it forever. Even after the user’s death, it will still work, as seen on Danzo’s hand. It also works on a reanimated Ninja, like with Itachi Uchiha and Madara Uchiha.will the sharingan die out.
