The Nashville race winner, Ryan Blaney, is all set to take part in the Viva Mexico 250 race over the weekend. The significant race at Mexico City has created a buzz and hype amongst the drivers and fans, with the weekend being the first points race to be held at the iconic track. Most drivers lack experience driving at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez track, which makes the race on Sunday an exciting and thrilling one.
Blaney is set to start the race from 18th position on the grid. He recently shared his thoughts on the corners that would be important to ace during the race weekend.
"I always look at where I have to be good for passing zones, and that's your run off of three into four. And it's different from lap time to race ability, like, there's a big lap time between five and 10 through the flowing S's, you're not going to pass anybody through there, but it just sets you up, you know, maybe to pass somebody into 11.
"Or so being able to carry good speed off of 9, 10, into the breaking zone in 11, you need to be able to break well into 12 because I feel like there's going to be a lot of moves there, shortcuts, dive bombs. And then obviously you've got to get off, you know, 14, 15, good," Ryan Blaney said via Dustin Long on X.
Ryan Blaney also linked and compared the straightaways in Mexico to Talladega's back stretch. The driver hopes for a strong performance during the race, quickly making up places and finishing in the top ten or maybe a top five.
Ryan Blaney shares his special rule for the NASCAR race in Mexico
The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion, Ryan Blaney, has had a decent season this year, securing his most recent victory at the Nashville Superspeedway. The Team Penske driver starts 18th on the grid during the Viva Mexico 250 race on Sunday.
The 31-year-old driver has set himself a simple and funny rule ahead of the race that he shared recently.
My one rule for this weekend- do not, by any circumstances, wreck Daniel Suarez this weekend, that is the only rule that I have because I would get just booed out of the stadium. You couldn’t get to the bus fast enough. Do not wreck the hometown guy, the national driver. Daniel, I’m going to be an easy pass if you’re around me, if you are listening," Ryan Blaney said via Sirius XM NASCAR Radio on X.
Daniel Suarez is set to race in his first home race in the NASCAR Cup Series. He is also the only Mexican driver on the grid and would have immense support from the fans on the weekend.
Blaney is currently ranked seventh in the NASCAR Cup Series rankings for this season, scoring 427 points so far. His playoff qualification is secured from his win at Nashville earlier this season.
