Los Angeles Rams embarrass New York Giants

Game recap of Rams vs Giants.

Los Angeles Rams v New York Giants

The Los Angeles Rams and the New York Giants were both coming off a bye week and they both wanted to get to establish some momentum. But it was only the Rams who succeeded in that, as they embarrassed the Giants 51-17. This is the most points that the Giants have conceded at home since 1964.

In the first quarter, Jared Goff threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Higbee. This was the eighth time this season that the Giants had given up a touchdown to a tight end. Later in the first, Tavares King caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning. King finished with three receptions for 33 yards receiving and a touchdown.

With the Rams leading 10-7 in the second quarter, Jared Goff threw a screen pass on a third-and-33 play to Robert Woods and he took it 52 yards for a touchdown. Later in the second quarter, Goff threw a 67-yard touchdown pass to Sammy Watkins. That was Watkins' only reception in the game.

With the Rams leading 27-10 in the third quarter, Todd Gurley scored on a 1-yard rush. Later in the third, Robert Woods caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Jared Goff; Woods finished with four receptions for 70 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Goff completed 14-of-22 passes for 311 yards and 4 touchdowns.

It is amazing that Goff threw for four touchdowns on only 14 completions. The Giants' defense was horrendous all game long and cornerback Janoris Jenkins was suspended because of a violation of team rules.

To make matters worse for the Giants, a block was punted in the third quarter by Cory Littleton. That would eventually set up a 4-yard touchdown run by Gurley, who finished with 59 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. He also caught two passes for 45 yards receiving.

A lot of Giants' fans headed for the exit early on a cloudy and rainy day at Metlife Stadium. With the Giants trailing 48-10 in the fourth-quarter, Eli Manning threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Evan Engram. Manning completed 20-of-36 passes for 220 yards with two touchdowns and a interception. He is now the 7th quarterback in NFL history with at least 50,000 passing yards in a career.

One of the positives for the Giants today was Orleans Darkwa rushing for 71 yards on 16 carries and Wayne Gallman rushing for 41 yards on nine carries.

Greg Zuerlein made three field goals for the Rams (27, 46, and 47 yards), while Aldrick Rosas made one field goal for the Giants from 50 yards

The Rams continue to make improvements week in and week out and the Giants continue to go through the motions. Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese seem to be responsible for their team's mess, while Sean McVay deserves credit for the Rams' turnaround.

The Rams will host the Houston Texans (3-5) next Sunday and the Giants will go on the road to face the San Francisco 49ers (0-8) next Sunday.
