It is most likely to be Pittsburgh Steelers versus New England Patriots for the AFC Championship once again this season. Such a scenario would evince another top tier quarterback match up in the AFC between Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady. Who is really a good quarterback in the AFC after that? There are the likes of Joe Flacco, Alex Smith, Blake Bortles, Marcus Mariota, Phillip Rivers and Andrew Luck.
The assumption may sound crazy but the quarterback that could lead his team to multiple Super Bowl appearances and maybe championships is Deshaun Watson. Watson is a star in the making. He was amazing in both National Championship games against Alabama. Watson won MVP in the second game. The 22-year old was drafted 12th overall by the Houston Texans in the NFL Draft after the Texans traded up to get him.
It is such a shame that his season ended because of a Torn ACL in practice. Watson completed 126-of-204 passes for 1,699 yards 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also rushed for 269 yards on 36 carries and two touchdowns.
He led the Texans to five straight games with 30 plus points. Watson sparked the offense and DeAndre Hopkins looked like a top receiver when he was playing. Watson also had good chemistry with Will Fuller V. It also opened up the running game for Lamar Miller and D'onta Foreman.

I think Watson can lead them to the promised land. It is because once Brady and Roethlisberger retire, is there really any parody in the AFC? No. The AFC is a weak conference to begin with. Can you imagine how bad the AFC would be this season without those two? It would probably open up the door for the Los Angeles Chargers, but they have to make the playoffs first.
I think the Titans would be favored in the AFC without Big Ben and Brady playing. That being said, the Texans will be the favorites in the AFC when they both retire. The AFC isn't as strong as the NFC. It would be a lot tougher for Watson to led Houston to a Super Bowl appearance if they were in the NFC.
Let us take a look at the quarterbacks in the NFC - Carson Wentz (Eagles), Jared Goff (Rams), Drew Brees (Saints), Case Keenum/ Teddy Bridgewater (Vikings), Matthew Stafford (Lions), Aaron Rodgers (Packers), Dak Prescott (Cowboys), Jimmy Garoppolo (49ers), Matt Ryan (Falcons), Russell Wilson (Seahawks), and Kirk Cousins (Redskins).
The NFC is a lot tough because of the competitive balance and it isn't an automatic who will be in the NFC championship this season. The quarterbacks I just listed will be a threat in the NFC for the new few years. That's why it would be tough for Watson to lead Houston to a Super Bowl through the NFC route. As for the AFC route, it is a lot easier and a weaker conference.
