The Dallas Cowboys are putting the finishing touches on their roster for next season, and there have been some eye-opening deals from Jerry Jones' team. The Cowboys released franchise icon, Ezekiel Elliott, signed elite receiver Brandin Cooks and let longtime favorite, Dalton Schultz walk away. It has been a truly busy off-season in Dallas, and the team is gearing up for another postseason run.
With most of the top players off the board, there are some free agents the Cowboys should consider signing. These players will be available at a bargain and could come into the team and contribute immediately. So, without further ado, here are three free agents the Dallas Cowboys should consider signing before they get picked up by other franchises.

#1 Shelby Harris, DE
While Harris didn't quite live up to expectations after getting traded to the Seattle Seahawks in the Russell Wilson trade, he's still a decent option at defensive tackle.
The Seahawks released him alongside fellow defensive stud Quinton Jefferson in a move that saved them $13.4 million in cap space, after which they signed Jarran Reed and Dre'Mont Jones to replace them.
Harris might have put up a meager two sacks last season, but he totaled six quarterback hits. Prove-it tackles don't come better than Harris, and he could be signed on a modest one-year contract worth $5 million.
#2 Irv Smith Jr., TE
The Dallas Cowboys lost Dalton Schultz in free agency, one of the worst-kept secrets in the Dallas front office.
Hence, there's a free slot for TE1 in Dallas and the chance for a pass catcher to slot into the role. The Cowboys have their TE pick from last year's draft, Jake Ferguson, to consider, and this year's draft has some decent TEs for consideration too.
However, if the Cowboys are looking for a free agent signing who could come in and get a job done, they should check out Irv Smith Jr. The former Minnesota Vikings TE is a 6' 2", 240-pounder with solid pass-catching and blocking abilities. At 24, he has growth potential, especially if he can stay healthy. That's been an issue for him in Minnesota, though. He played in 37 games across three seasons there and missed the entire 2021 campaign.
Nevertheless, he has proven himself to be a good red-zone threat, hauling nine touchdown passes on 91 career receptions. With Schultz gone, Smith could help make up for the lost production. He's at least worth bringing into the camp to compete.
#3 Sidney Jones IV, CB
The Dallas Cowboys made one of the most underrated off-season trades when they snagged Stephon Gilmore for pennies on the dollar.
The signing of Gilmore gives the Cowboys a defensive back pairing of him and Trevon Diggs, arguably the best DB set-up in the NFL. However, the Dallas Cowboys need a backup for both elite defenders.
Step in Sidney Jones IV, a cornerback who can switch to other defensive positions. Sidney Jones turns 27 when the season starts and has experience playing outside and in the slot.
Moreover, he allowed a passer rating of just 79.2 across ten games with the Raiders and Seahawks last season. Despite his success, he remains unsigned. Considering what Dan Quinn could do with him is at least worth the small investment. It remains to be seen if the Dallas Cowboys take a bite at the cherry.
