Is Kyle Pitts playing tonight vs. 49ers in Week 6?

Kyle Pitts was one of the positives to come out of last season for the Atlanta Falcons as they underperformed across the board. With Matt Ryan having left for the Indianapolis Colts, the hope for the future was very much Pitts.

The last thing any Falcons fan wanted was an injury to him. Yet, after the October 2nd game against the Cleveland Browns, it was reported that Kyle Pitts had suffered a sore hamstring.

While nothing might have been made of it then, he did end up missing last week's 21-15 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It marked the first time he has missed a game in the league since being drafted.

When reporters spoke to him, he said he felt fine about returning to this week's game against the San Francisco 49ers. One positive sign as compared to last week is that he has at least returned to practice.

Before missing the game against the Buccaneers, he did not practice. But even though he has returned, he is still limited and is therefore questionable for this week's game.

Kyle Pitts Fantasy football updates and predictions

Since Kyle Pitts is still questionable, it is hard to say if anyone should root for him in this game in fantasy football. But given that he himself has claimed that he could be back for this game, one has to look at his numbers so far to see if he is a risk worth taking.

This season, he has just 10 receptions for 150 yards and has not scored a single touchdown. That does not look set to change drastically even if he does return.

Unfortunately, that is due to the fact that he is being used to block more in the offensive scheme rather than as a primary target. Hence, there may not be much upside in plumping for him this week.

Kyle Pitts timeline

Kyle Pitts was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2021 NFL Draft as the fourth overall pick out of Florida, making him the highest-ever tight end drafted. He won the John Mackey award in 2020 after being named the best tight end in college football. He did not disappoint in his first year in the NFL either.

He made it to the Pro Bowl in his rookie season and made it into the All-Rookie Team. He played all 17 games last year and had 1,026 yards receiving for one touchdown.

The Atlanta Falcons would have been hoping for the same output this season and, his current form notwithstanding, would love to get him back as soon as possible.
