The Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Chargers are embroiled in a tough matchup. However, the Chargers may have just lost one of their top defenders in J.C. Jackson. The cornerback was carted off the field after suffering a painful knee injury.

Marquise Goodwin caught a 23-yard touchdown very late in the first quarter when Jackson went down. He immediately reached for his leg. He stayed down on the field for a while and was ultimately carted off.

It was an awkward fall for the corner, which didn't help. Non-contact injuries can often be very devastating. This is the first of a five-year $82.5 million deal he signed in March following his tenure with the New England Patriots. The cornerback has struggled this season, even being benched in last week's Monday Night Football victory over the Denver Broncos. Still, he started again today and has the upside of being a game changer.

What kind of injury might J.C. Jackson have sustained?

The star cornerback reaching for his leg indicates that he might have suffered a serious knee injury. The potential for season-ending injuries is high with knee problems. An ACL tear could cost him some of next year, too.

It's early, so there is nothing but speculation regarding the injury yet, but it certainly did not look good for the Chargers corner. He was immediately ruled out and will not return today, which doesn't bode well, either.

Since it was a non-contact injury, it's hard to speculate, but something went very wrong with Jackson's knee. At the very least, he's probably going to miss a few weeks. At worst, he might be done for the year.

The Chargers need all hands on deck as they try and keep pace with the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West. They entered today at 4-2, tied for first place.
