NFL fans react to news of Ravens' new improved offer for Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson, one of the NFL's top quarterbacks, is negotiating a new deal with the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens reportedly offered the quarterback $113 million in guarantees, which were later increased to $133 million. While it may appear to be a large sum of money, it pales in comparison to other current quarterback contracts. Many NFL fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the reported deal Jackson was offered.

Some NFL fans tweeted that the Ravens star was offered less guaranteed money than Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray

Last July, Kyler Murray signed a five-year, $230.5 million deal with a $29 million signing bonus and $189.5 million guaranteed. The Cardinals quarterback will average an annual salary of $46.1 million per season. Jackson's rookie deal ended at the conclusion of the 2021 season and made $23 million this season under the franchise tag.

Another major reason why some fans are upset about the reported offer Jackson was given was his productivity when compared to Murray.

Why Lamar Jackson deserves more guaranteed money than Kyler Murray

Lamar Jackson was selected by the Ravens in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The former Louisville quarterback won the NFL MVP award in just his second season in the league. In that 2019 season, he led the NFL in touchdowns with 36 to go with 3,127 yards and a 66.1 completion percentage. He also finished sixth in the league with 1,206 rushing yards and had seven touchdowns that season.

Both have the same number of touchdowns in their four seasons of play (84). Murray and Jackson both have similar completion percentages. Jackson has a 64.1 completion percentage compared to Murray's 66.8 completion percentage.

Although Murray has more passing yards (13,848) than Jackson (9,967), Jackson has thrown fewer interceptions (31) than Murray (41). The most notable distinction between the two young quarterbacks is Jackson's MVP season. We'll see if Lamar Jackson gets a contract extension that garners him more guaranteed money than Murray's deal.
