Andrew Luck recently spilled the beans on his unexpected decision to retire from the NFL in 2019. The former quarterback spent seven years in the league with the Indianapolis Colts before calling it quits.

In an interview with ESPN, Luck opened up on the mental health issues he faced during his stint in the NFL, along with the physical toll it took on his body. However, fans have been curious to learn more about his personal life, especially his wife, Nicole Pechanec.

Andrew Luck and Nicole Pechanec met while studying architectural design at Stanford’s School of Engineering. While Luck played college football as a quarterback, Pechanec was into gymnastics and she twice competed in the NCAA national finals.

Soon after she graduated from university, Pechanec worked at Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf Architects in Indianapolis. As Luck got into the NFL, Pechanec worked a number of jobs to keep herself occupied and even went on to get a Master's degree in Business Administration.

She had a stint as an intern with NASA as well. Pechanec has worked as a field producer since February 2014, reporting on gymnastics events with NBC Sports and ESPN.

Pechanec and Luck married in 2019 at a private ceremony in the Czech Republic. The couple are proud parents to two young girls.

Luck was picked first overall by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2012 NFL Draft. He spent seven years with the Colts, but his stint in Indianapolis was marred by multiple injuries.

Luck unexpectedly called it quits with Indianapolis and the NFL altogether in August 2019 after leading the team to the playoffs in the previous campaign. He finished with 23,671 passing yards and 171 touchdowns. Luck earned four Pro Bowl honors during his time in the NFL.
