Early Life and Career
Aleksandar Rakić started his combat sports journey at age 13 when he started kickboxing and boxing.
Rakić transitioned into MMA in the early 2010s and made his professional MMA debut in a losing effort at Rock the Cage 2 against Christain Radke. Rakić bounced back from the loss and won his next fight at New Talents 15 against Carsten Lorenz via first-round TKO.
Aleksandar built on the momentum and finished his next 8-opponents in the Austrian circuit to garner an 8-fight win streak. Following this streak, Rakić signed with the UFC in 2017.

Aleksandar Rakić made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs. Struve against Francimar Barroso. Rakić outclassed Barroso and earned a unanimous decision victory. He next defeated Justin Ledet before fighting his first UFC pay-per-view fight at UFC 231 against Devin Clark.
Rakić outstruck Clark and finished him inside the first round to extend his win streak to 11. He next fought Jimi Manuwa and defeated him in 42-seconds via a clean Head Kick KO. Rakić earned his first Performance of the Night bonus for the finish.
The first blemish in Aleksandar's UFC record came up in his fight against Volkan Oezdemir at UFC Fight Night: Edgar vs. Korean Zombie. Both the fighters put on a back-and-forth encounter that ended with a split decision loss for Rakić.
He bounced back from the loss and defeated Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos to reach the 3rd rank at the UFC Light Heavyweight Rankings.
