Amit Hooda

Amit Hooda is an Indian professional kabaddi player who plays for the Jaipur Pink Panthers in the Pro Kabaddi League and the Indian national men’s Kabaddi team. He was born on 3rd May 1996 and hails from the Chamarian village in Rohtak district of Haryana. He plays as a defender for his team, primarily in the right corner.

Despite his young age, he is an experienced campaigner in the Pro Kabaddi League. One of the most coveted defenders of the league, the Thalaivas showed how much they trust his talent by making him their highest paid player capped at a price of Rs. 63 Lakhs.

A fearless tackler, his aggressive approach to the game is commendable as he uses his skills rather than physicality to tackle the raiders. He mostly uses the dash and thigh hold to tackle the raider, however his signature move is the Ankle Hold where he catches hold of the raider’s ankles, and with a tremendous bout of strength pulls him in thereby creating a chance to tackle.

Hailing from the kabaddi-rich state of Haryana which has produced so many talented kabaddi players in the past and present, Hooda looks to be another one of such talents. An avid lover of the sport from a young age, he started actively pursuing the game at the tender age of 10.

Rise to Glory

He first rose to prominence in the third season of the Pro Kabaddi League when he featured for the title winning Patna Pirates. Despite being mostly used as a substitute, he caught a few eyes with his fantastic displays of defending. With the Pirates eventually winning the title, he found his way to glory as people started recognizing his immense talent.

Club Career

Hooda has featured for the likes of Patna Pirates, Jaipur Pink Panthers and the Tamil Thalaivas in the Pro Kabaddi League.

Achievements

He won the Pro Kabaddi League title with Patna Pirates in the first half of 2016. In the fourth season, he managed to accumulate 51 tackle points, making him the second most successful defender in the league.
