Arthur Melo Biography

Arthur Melo is a Brazilian footballer who was born on 12 August, 1996 in Goiania, Brazil. He plays at the position of midfielder for both, his national team and club team.


Arthur represented Brazil U17 and Brazil U20 teams before making his debut for Brazilian senior football team.

He also got selected to play for Brazil U17 team in the 2013 South American under-17 Football Championship.



On 15 September 2017, Arthur got selected in seniors team and made his international debut for Brazil to face Bolivia and Chile for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifications.

Rise to glory

2017 was a successful year for him where he became a regular part of the first team. In a match against Club Guarani, he was named the man of the match after completing 40 passes with a 100% success rate.

Club Career

Arthur began his career with his hometown Goias club at the age of 12. Later in 2015, after successful performances at the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Junior, he was promoted to the first team by his manager Luiz Felipe Scolari. He made his debut for them in the last match of the season in a 1-0 loss against Botafogo.

Arthur scored his first professional goal in the opening match against Fluminense for Copa do Brasil in which they won 3-1 while he scored his first league goal against Vitoria which they again won 3-1.


He was part the Gremio side that won Copa do Brasil in 2016 and Copa Libertadores in 2017 while in his individual records, he won a spot in Campeonato Brasileiro Série A Team of the year and also won best newcomer award in that tournament.
