Chris Adcock: A Brief Biography

Chris Adcock is an English badminton player. He was born on 27th April 1989 in Leicester, England. He currently partners his wife Gabrielle Adcock in the Mixed doubles category and is placed 8th in the world rankings.


Debut


Chris started participating in tournaments when he was 8.

He became a member of the National team in the summer of 2006 and gained his first Senior International cap in 2007.


Rise to Glory


Chris came into the limelight during the 2007 BWF World Junior Championships held in Waitakere City, New Zealand, where he won a silver in the Mixed doubles category.


He also won a gold in the Boys’ doubles category during the European Junior Championships held in Volklingen, Germany, that same year.


Career


Chris had a staggering run in 2010 where he won the Irish, Italian and Scottish International tournaments partnered up with Imogen Bankier in the Mixed doubles category.


He also won a gold alongside Andrew Ellis at the 2010 Irish international and finished runner up in the Scottish International.


He and Imogen finished runner-up in the 2011 World Championships.


During his 2014 season, Chris was ranked 9th in the Men’s doubles category.


Chris and Gabrielle ended up as champions at the Dubai World Superseries Finals in 2015 and finished runner up in its 2016 edition.


The duo won a gold medal at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth games held in Glasgow and Gold Coast respectively.


They won the European championships in 2017 and 2018 and a bronze at the 2017 World Championships.


After an astounding season in 2017 Chris was ranked 4th in the Mixed doubles category.


Chris has a total of 11 career titles as of December 2018.
