Christian, Edge, and Gangrel formed a stable called The Brood. The Brood was later abducted and converted into The Undertaker's Ministry of Darkness. After competing with various tag teams such as The Hardy Boyz, The Hollys, The Acolytes, and Dudley Boyz, Edge and Christian defeated The Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz in a TLC match at WrestleMania XVII to win the WWF Tag Team Championship. The duo garnered praises as heels and won the titles six more times. After the Invasion storyline, Christian turned heel on Edge and won the Intercontinental Championship on two occasions. In 2002, Christian, Test, and Lance Storm formed The Un-Americans. At Vengeance, they won the WWF Tag Team Championship from Edge and Hogan. By September, the stable lost the titles and disbanded.

In 2003, Christian spent his time on RAW as a heel and reunited with Chris Jericho. At the Royal Rumble, Christian turned on Jericho. At WrestleMania XX, he defeated Jericho with an assist from Trish Stratus. After Mania, he continued his feud with Jericho and challenged him for the Intercontinental Championship and lost. At WrestleMania XXI, he entered the inaugural Money in the Bank ladder match and lost. In 2005, he spent the remaining year feuding with John Cena for the WWE Championship and lost. Due to contractual disputes between NWA and TNA, the world title was vacated and a new TNA World Heavyweight Championship was formed. Christian failed to defeat Angle to win it. Christian spent the final year feuding with AJ Styles and Main Event Mafia before leaving the company.

Jungle Boy and Luchasarus lost the AEW World Tag Team Championship to the Young Bucks in June 2022, following which Christian snapped and attacked Jungle Boy. He would then go on to feud with Jungle Boy, going to the extent of mocking his mother and his late father Luke Perry. The two collided at All Out, where Cage won in under 20 seconds after Luchasauras had attacked Boy before the match. It was revealed that Cage had suffered a triceps injury in the match and had to move away from the programming for about six months. He made his return in February and attacked none other than Jungle Boy. The two competed at the Revolution in a Final Burial match, which Jungle Boy won.

At Double or Nothing, he challenged Wardlow in a ladder match for the TNT Championship in a losing effort. On June 17, in the premier episode of Collision, Cage helped Luchasaurus defeat Wardlow for the title. While Luchasaurus was the official champion, Cage claimed that it was his title and carried it around his shoulders. At All In, he teamed up with Swerve Strickland in a tag team coffin match against Darby Allin and Sting, which the latter won. The next week, at All Out, he helped Luchasauraus retain the gold against Allin. On the September 23 episode of Collision, the champion defended the gold against Allin and Cage in a triple threat match, which Cage won after Luchasaurus allowed him to get the pinfall. At WrestleDream, Cage defeated Allin in a best-of-three falls. After the match, Cage, Luchasaurs and Nick Wayne laid out an attack on Darby Allin and Sting, who were saved by a debuting Adam Copeland. Copeland made his AEW debut but did not team up with his former partner Cage. The two teams took on each other in a six-man tag team match at Full Gear 2023 where Patriarchy lost.

He renamed his allies (Killswitch and "The Prodigy" Nick Wayne) and relied on Shayna Wayne's help to retain against Adam Copeland. He then embraced the chaos, involving Shayna in his group and accepting a brutal No DQ match against Copeland at Worlds End. Cage lost the title, but in a shocking twist, he claimed Killswitch's title shot and defeated Copeland to become a two-time champion. His reign continues with a successful defense against Daniel Garcia at AEW Revolution in March 2024.
