Dan "The Hangman" Hooker is the current #6 ranked UFC Lightweight fighter with a professional MMA record of 21-wins and 11-losses. Hooker is a former WKBF X-Rules Welterweight Champion and King in the Ring Middleweight Kickboxing champion and holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

UFC 266: Hooker v Haqparast


Early Life and Career


Dan started his combat sports journey in kickboxing and amassed a professional record of 9-1-3 and winning the KBF X-Rules Welterweight Champion and King in the Ring Middleweight Kickboxing championship.


Hooker started his MMA career in 2009 at ICNZ 5 against Tristan Watson. He won the fight via unanimous decision and went professional later that year.


Hooker fought and won against Mike Taylor at SCF 2 for his professional debut bout. Following this, he went 2-2 in his next 4- fights before getting a title shot at the SFC South Pacific Lightweight Championship against Rob Lisita at SCF 6. Dan lost the fight via a close decision and went on a 1-year hiatus. He returned at SFC 8 and fought again for the SFC South Pacific Lightweight Championship, but this time fought Scott MacGregor. Hooker defeated MacGregor in the first round via guillotine choke submission.


He then defeated Yuma Ishizuka at AFC 2 and lost to Haotian Wu at Legend FC 8 before getting a title shot for the AFC Lightweight Championship against Rusty McBride at AFC 3. Hooker won the fight in the second round via TKO (doctor stoppage) and then won his next 4-fights including, 2-title defenses before, joining the UFC in 2014 with a professional record of 10-4.

Dan Hooker made his UFC debut against Ian Entwistle at UFC Fight Night: Te-Huna vs. Marquardt. Hooker won the fight via TKO (elbows) in the first round. He lost his next fight against Maximo Blanco at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Nelson before bouncing back against Hatsu Hioki and defeating him via KO (head kick and punches) to earn his first Performance of the Night bonus.

He was then was defeated by Jason Knight via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night- Whittaker vs. Brunson.


Dan then went on a 4-fight win streak and defeated the likes of Gilbert Burns before being stopped by Edson Barboza at UFC on Fox 31 via third-round KO. Hooker recovered from the loss and got back to the winning ways as he won his next 3-fights against James Vick, Al Iaquinta, and Paul Felder.


Hooker's fight streak ended when he fought Dustin Poirier at UFC on ESPN: Poirier vs. Hooker. Hooker lost the fight via unanimous decision and then lost his next fight against UFC newcomer Michael Chandler at UFC 257 before coming back on the winning ways after defeating Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 266 via unanimous decision.


Recently, Hooker took a short-notice fight Islam Makhachev at UFC 267. He lost in the first round via submission.

Dan Hooker fought Islam Makhachev on short notice at UFC 267. Hooker landed a few kicks in the fight before being taken down by Makhachev inside the first minute of the side. Hooker was unable to neutralize Makhachev's ground control and eventually got locked in a kimura. Hooker wasn't able to escape from the Kimura and submitted to lose the fight.
