Denis Istomin: A Brief Biography

Denis Istomin is a professional Uzbek tennis player. He won his first Challenget tournamnet in Bukhara in 2005. He won two more Challenger titles at Karshi and Bukhara in 2007. He continued in the same vein the next year and went on to win a number of Challenger tournaments. In 2011, He travelled to his country, Uzbekistan, to compete in two Challengers (Samarkand and Karshi), which he both won. It was his third victory in the Karshi Challenger. He then returned to the Challenger circuit, where he again enjoyed great success by winning two consecutive tournaments in Istanbul and Tashkent. In the Istanbul final he beat Philipp Kohlschreiber, whom he had also beaten in Wimbledon. This was the first tournament Istomin won outside Uzbekistan, in his career. Istomin is coached by his mother who is also the person who introduced him to the sport.
