Dhruv Shorey: A Brief Biography

Dhruv Shorey Biography

Dhruv Shorey is an Indian cricketer born on 5th June 1992 in Delhi. The right-handed batsman generally bats at the top-order for his state side Delhi in the domestic circuit. He occasionally bowls right-arm off break.

Domestic Career

Opening the innings in his List A debut in a North Zone Vijay Hazare Trophy encounter against Jammu and Kashmir, Shorey scored 13 runs off 20 deliveries in February 2013 at Cuttuck.

A month later, the Delhi-boy debuted in T20 format in a North Zone Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Haryana, scoring run-a-ball nine runs at Rohtak.

He had to wait for another two years before he made a decent first-class debut in a Group A Ranji Trophy encounter against Odisha at Bhuveneswar in October 2015, scoring 42 and 62 runs in two innings.

He amassed 381 runs in four matches at 76.20 including an unbeaten 107 against strong Karnataka in his debut Ranji season.

In the next Ranji calendar, Shorey fetched 243 runs in five matches at 34.71. Shorey was in phenomenal form in 2017-18 season, scoring 593 runs in nine matches at 59.30.

In the final in December 2017, he fought a lone battle against Vidarbha smashing 145 in the first innings followed by a steady 62 runs in the second innings. He batted for 571 minutes in the final.

Shorey is also an excellent batsman of shorter formats. In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he smashed 74 runs off 56 balls against Baroda which was followed by 84 off 46 deliveries against Bengal at Eden Gardens in January 2018.

In nine matches he scored 303 runs with a brilliant strike rate of 141.58.

Shorey accumulated his maiden List A ton scoring an unbeaten 103 runs to fetch an easy win against

Maharastra in A Group B Vijay Hazare Trophy match in February 2018 at Dharamashala.

Club Career

Shorey was duly picked by the Chennai Super Kings at 20 lakhs in the 2018 Indian Premier League auction.
