Early Life and Career


Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone is an American mixed martial artist who is currently signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship and competes for the promotion’s Lightweight Division. In 2010, Cerrone became a part of the UFC roster after World Extreme Cagefighting merged with Dana White’s promotion, and all WEC fighters were transferred over to the UFC. At UFC 126, Cerrone made his promotional debut as he defeated Paul Kelly via a rear-naked choke submission.


In November of 2018, Cerrone surpassed Georges St-Pierre and Michael Bisping for the most wins in UFC history with 21 and simultaneously, also surpassed Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort for most finishes in UFC history with 15.

In his first run with the UFC in 2010, Donald Cowboy Cerrone faced the likes of Dennis Siver, Nate Diaz, Anthony Pettis, Rafael dos Anjos, and Edson Barboza among notable Lightweight fighters. Cerrone compiled a total of eight wins in the Lightweight Division as he earned himself a shot at the UFC Lightweight Championship. At UFC on Fox 17, Cerrone faced dos Anjos for the Lightweight Championship but was defeated within 66 seconds into the first round.

In his debut for the Welterweight Division, Cowboy Cerrone defeated Alex Oliveira via first-round submission. Since then, he has compiled wins over Patrick Cote, Rick Story, and Matt Brown. In his final fight in the Welterweight Division, Cerrone defeated Mike Perry at UFC Fight Night 139, and with his win over Perry, Cowboy Cerrone set the UFC record for most finishes in the Octagon.

Conor McGregor cracked Donald Cerrone to the chin with a left head kick in the opening seconds of their UFC 246 main event fight at T-Mobile Arena. The end came soon after. In his comeback fight, McGregor was victorious via TKO in just 40 seconds.

It marked the second-fastest win of McGregor's career, the quickest being his 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo in December 2015.
