Karan Sawhney: A Brief Biography

Karan Sawhney is an Indian professional footballer. He was born on 23 March 1992 in Mumbai. He previously played as a forward for Kerala Blasters in the ISL.


Background


Karan started his football career very early. While he was 13, he played for the Mahindra United U13s. He also represented them at the U15 and U19. At the age of 16, he joined the famous Tata Football Academy (TFA) in Jharkhand. He also got selected in the Maharashtra state squad.


Rise to glory


He rose to fame after he scored a goal against the Inter Milan U18 side.


Club Career


Sawhney was picked by Salgaocar FC in the 2012-13 season of the I-League. He was then loaned out to DSK Shivajians FC in the next season. He had not made his professional debut yet.


He then shifted to Bengaluru FC in the 2013-14 season. It was against the Churchill Brothers side that he made his debut. He played for only 6 minutes as he came on the field in the 85th minute. Bengaluru FC beat Churchill Brothers 3-1 in that game. He made only 3 appearances for them and then shifted to Mumbai FC in the 2016-17 season. He has 3 goals for Mumbai in 13 appearances for them.


The 25-year-old was picked by Kerala Blasters in the 2017-18 ISL season. He made his ISL debut on 9 December 2017. Kerala lost to Goa 5-2.
