Mailson Alves: A Brief Biography

Mailson Alves Biography


Mailson Alves Barreiro Veriato commonly known as Mailson is the Brazilian International who currently plays for Chennaiyin FC in Indian Super League. The Brazilian was born on 5th February 1988 at Itaporanga.


Debut


Mailson began his career in the Segunda Liga with the Portuguese side Portimonense. On 28th October 2009, he made his debut in a Taça de Portugal match against Beira-Mar.


The match ended in a stalemate with both teams failing to get the ball behind the net as Mailson was sent off in the 85th minute.


He then returned to Brazil where he joined Porto Alegre to play for them in the Campeonato Gaúcho. On 16th January 2011, he started against Novo Hamburgo which they lost 1-0.


Mailson signed for the Brazilian team Tombense but was loaned to Vila Nova of the Série D for the 2013 season.


On 28th July 2013, he played against Marcílio Dias which ended in a draw. He went on to help the team get the promotion and was recalled by Tombense. Mailson signed for Tupi in 2015 and represented them in both Série C and Campeonato Mineiro.


He then played for Chennaiyin FC in the 2015 season before returning to Brazil for Volta Redonda.


The ISL rivals NorthEast United successfully signed him in the 2016 season.


He made a sensational return to Chennaiyin FC and the vice-captain is a fan favorite in the Marina Arena.


Rise to glory


He first scored in his competitive match in 2015 when he played for Tupi. He played 9 matches for NorthEast United FC in 2016 season.


In 2016, he played for Volta Redonda without making a single appearance. However, in his second stint for Volta Redonda, he made 24 appearances and scored a goal.


He starred for Chennaiyin FC in the 2017-18 ISL season, scoring a brace in the final, as Chennaiyin beat Bengaluru 3-2 to lift the trophy a second time.
