Sambinha Biography


Sambinha is a Guinea-Bissauan professional footballer. His full name is Mamadu Samba Cande.


He was born on 23 September 1992, in Cascais, Portugal.


Sambinha majorly plays in the center-back position but can also play as a defensive midfielder.


Background


He started his youth career with Esperancas Alcoitao in 2000 at the age of just right years. In 2001, he moved to Sociedade União 1º de Dezembro and to Sporting CP in 2004.


He returned back to 1º Dezembro in 2010 and started his senior career with the same team in 2011.


Debut


Sambinha made his debut for the Guinea-Bissau national team on 13 June 2015 against Zambia in the Africa Cup of Nations qualification match. This match was a draw as both the teams failed to score any goals.


He had played a total of five games for his national team as of February 2018.


Club Career


In 2011, Sambinha started his senior game with 1º Dezembro. While playing for 1º Dezembro, he made a total of 40 appearances and scored 2 goals.


Later in 2013, he moved to Sporting CP B by signing a four-year contract which ended in 2017.


He played 72 games and scored four goals for Sporting CP B.


During his time in Sporting, he was sent on loan to Major League Soccer (MLS) side New England Revolution and Portuguese second division side S.C. Covilha.


In 2017, he started playing for North East United in the Indian Super League. His stint at North East is his first outside Europe and the USA.
