Marvin Bagley III: A Brief Biography

Marvin Bagley III is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Bagley played his high school basketball for Corona del Sol High School in Tempe, Arizona in his freshman year and Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix, Arizona as a sophomore. He got transferred to Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, California in 2016.

In his final year for Sierra Canyon, Bagley averaged 24.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game and was named for the All-USA Today First-team in 2017. Throughout his high school career, Bagley was rated as a five-star recruit and was formerly ranked as the top player in the 2018 class. After graduating from Sierra Canyon in 2017, he decided to play his college basketball for Duke University.

Bagley scored 34 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in an 85–78 overtime win over the Texas Longhorns breaking the freshman record in rebounds. He would go on to tie the same record 4 days later, making him first Duke Player to reach such numbers since the 1960s. In 2018, he became the ACC's new record holder for most 30 point and 10 rebound double-doubles in a season.

Bagley was named both the ACC's Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year as also a member of the All-ACC first team at the conclusion of the regular season. He also earned a mention in the All-American First-Team throughout multiple organizations. Bagley was drafted as the 2nd overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings.
