In 2012, Krylov transitioned to mixed martial arts and made his debut on July 27, 2012, at West Fight 4 in Donetsk, Ukraine. He won his first twelve fights, including ten submissions and one TKO, before losing to Vladimir Mishchenko via submission on December 29, 2012, at Oplot Challenge 22. After winning two more fights in a Gladiators Fighting Challenge tournament in Donetsk on January 19, 2013, he faced Mishchenko in a rematch on March 8, 2013, at Oplot Challenge 40, and again lost by an arm-triangle choke. Krylov rebounded with a TKO victory over Gabriel Tampu at M-1 Challenge 38 in St. Petersburg, Russia, in April 2013.
