Ron Vlaar: A Brief Biography

Ron Peter Vlaar is a Dutch footballer who plays as a centre back profile for Premier League club Aston Villa. He is also the team\'s captain for the 2012–13 season. In the season 2004–05, Vlaar made his unexpected Eredivisie debut at the age of 20. On 28 April 2005, Vlaar made his European debut. The youngster was part of the starting line-up in the UEFA Cup semi final away match against Sporting Clube de Portugal (2–1). Vlaar played three Eredivisie matches and two UEFA Cup matches in his debut season. On 8 December 2005, Vlaar signed a three-and-a half-year deal with Feyenoord. Vlaar made his official Feyenoord debut on 15 January 2006, in the away match against Vitesse(0–1). His statistics failed to impress as he played 16 Eredivisie matches after his winter break transfer, without scoring any goals. On 1 August 2012, Vlaar officially joined Aston Villa, signing a three-year contract. On 15 September, Vlaar was named captain for the 2012/13 season in the absence of club captain Stiliyan Petrov. His first game as captain resulted in Aston Villa\'s first win of season, a 2–0 win over Swansea City.
