Debut

Stephen Fleming came into the limelight since the very beginning of his career. He flourished in his opening match itself. He is known for his elegance in his shots and is recognised for his flick off the pads, straight drive, cover drive and cut shots.

He is a productive slip catcher and fields intelligently in close-in positions. His best ODI innings was at the 2003 Cricket World Cup where he was unbeaten at 134 runs, which aided New Zealand in beating hosts South Africa.

Fleming is still New Zealand’s highest run getter in Tests and ODIs.

Fleming has played first-class county cricket clubs in England, Middlesex, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.
