Tabraiz Shamsi

Tabraiz Shamsi is a South African born cricketer who represents his nation in international cricket. He plays as a slow left-arm chinaman. He is a right-handed batsman and bats at the tail. He has played first-class cricket for teams such as Dolphins, Gauteng, Gauteng Under-19s, KwaZulu Natal, KwaZulu-Natal Inland, Lions, and Titans. At the Indian Premier League, Shamsi plays for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Player Background

Tabraiz Shamsi was born on February 18, 1990, at Johannesburg, Transvaal Province, South Africa. He had his schooling at Parktown Boys' High School in Johannesburg.

International Career

Shamsi made his International debut during the tournament on 7 June 2016, at an ODI match against Australia. Later, that year, he made his Test debut for South Africa against Australia on 24 November 2016. Shamsi made his Twenty20 International debut against England on 21 June 2017.

In April 2019, Tabraiz Shamsi was named in South Africa's squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Domestic Career

Tabraiz had a very illustrious domestic career. In 2015, Shamsi was the leading wicket-taker for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League T20. He was added to the Easterns cricket team squad for the 2015 Africa T20 Cup.

In April 2016, Shamsi was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore as a replacement player for the injured Samuel Badree during the 2016 edition of the Indian Premier League.

With 11 wickets, Shamsi was the leading wicket-taker in the 2017–18 Ram Slam T20 Challenge. With 26 wickets from 9 matches, he was also the leading wicket-taker in the 2017–18 Momentum One Day Cup.

In June 2018, he was named in the squad for the Titans. He joined the Paarl Rocks’ squad for the first edition of the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament.
