Yanina Wickmayer: A Brief Biography

Yanina Wickmayer is a Belgian professional tennis player who currently ranks No 29 worldwide. She reached her career-high ranking of world no. 12 in 2010. She won the award for \"WTA Most Improved Player\" in 2009. She was named by the Time Magazine as one of the \"30 Legends of Women\'s Tennis: Past, Present and Future\". Yanina started of with a bang winning three singles ITF titles and two ITF doubles in 2006. Her winning streak continued the following year with her standing victorious in several tournaments in Asia. By the end of the year, Wickmayer had thunderbolted from being no. 534 to no. 170, surpassing Caroline Maes as the no. 2 Belgian female tennis player. Though the year 2012 started off on a positive note for Wickmayer, she soon found herself struck out during the semi finals.
