5 AEW Wrestlers With the Best Chance to Dethrone Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho has been Le Champion in All Elite Wrestling since All Out, reigning for over 90 days so far, and all the challenges that have come his way (Cody, Darby Allin, Scorpio Sky) have fallen short. So, the question that needs to be answered is: can anyone touch The G.O.A.T.?

With the Big Hurt, Proud and Powerful, and Sammy Guevara by his side, that seems unlikely to happen anytime soon. But, heading into 2020, someone is bound to step up and finally succeed in taking that beautiful title from him.

The AEW roster is quite intriguing, and while a challenger may come from outside of the company (looking at you Marty Scurll and Brian Cage!), right now, we are going to take a look at the current crop of contenders. From former WWE stars to World Champions to repeat challengers, there's plenty of talent in AEW right now, and the following five have the best chance to dethrone Le Champion in 2020:

#5 Adam Page

Hangman Page lost the AEW Championship match to Chris Jericho back at All Out. Despite a win over PAC, he hasn't been the same since, and it looks bad for The Elite. Over the past few weeks, Page has left the group as he wants something more. Looking at all the tools he has at his disposal, this may be for the better since he could be challenging for the title once again.

Page is a star on the rise for sure, and he has all the makings of a World Champion. But, he needs to find that something special before he topples Jericho. We have a strong feeling that Page will be achieving the something special he desires in the coming year.

Because of his loses to Jericho (one) and PAC (two), he is down on the ladder right now, but if striking out on his own can pick up his momentum, we may see a full circle story that sees Hangman be the one to finally dethrone Le Champion some time in 2020.

#4 Darby Allin

Darby Allin has been the biggest surprise so far in the life of AEW, as he has become one of the crowd's favourite performers and given his great character work and intensity, it's easy to see why. The former Evolve standout has had some fantastic matches, most notable a 20-minute time limit draw with Cody, and ever since that point, he's gone from strength to strength, even getting an AEW World Championship shot on Dynamite.

Unfortunately, he came up short on that, but like as says on the back of his neck, Allin is relentless, and it won't be long before he rises again, ready to take on Le Champion once more.

Given his talent, charisma, and obvious fan connection, he will one day be the AEW Champion, and while it may not be anytime soon, the company needs to keep him around as there are very few who connect with the crowd as Allin does.

#3 Kenny Omega

Since the birth of AEW, many people expected Kenny Omega to be the ace up the company's sleeve, but for whatever reason, The Best Bout Machine has struggled to find his footing here. He's had some fantastic matches and has shown flashes of the elite level Kenny Omega we adore, but it's just not been consistent enough for someone at that level. 2020 is the perfect opportunity for him and the company he is the EVP of to turn that around.

Though he lost at Double or Nothing with the chance to challenge for the AEW World Championship at All Out, it shouldn't The Cleaner long before he finds his way back into contention.

With him being unassociated with the whole Inner Circle vs. The Elite rivalry and completely absorbed with PAC and Jon Moxley, it is going to be fun to see how he transitions now that he's done with the two.

#2 PAC

PAC took his time to finally join AEW after his signing was announced way back at the company's first press conference, and since his arrival, he's been fantastic, picking up huge wins over Kenny Omega and two over Hangman Page. This has shot him right to the top of the AEW rankings and given everything about the presentation of the Bastard, it's clear that he would be a huge threat to Chris Jericho if that were to ever happen.

Since leaving WWE, PAC has completely transformed himself, and with his ruthless attitude, new physique, and the Black Arrow and Brutaliser in tow, he may be the best and most dangerous contender for Le Champion.

The Bastard has had rivalries with both Page and Jericho since joining AEW but hasn't ventured too far beyond that. It will be fun to see how he is booked in the next few months and despite the #1 on our list, it's a big possibility that he finds himself facing Jericho at the company's next PPV.

#1 Jon Moxley

Since arriving at Double or Nothing, Jon Moxley has been on a tear in AEW (excluding the time away for injury) and, after a big victory over Kenny Omega at Full Gear, he's got his sights firmly fixed on Le Champion. Mox has been the guy we all wanted to see during his WWE tenure, and with his new, carefree attitude, it's hard to see anyone stopping him. But, if anyone can do it, it's Jericho and his Inner Circle.

Given their recent interaction on Dynamite after Jericho's successful title defence against Scorpio Sky, it seems that this may be the main event of AEW's next Pay Per View, whenever that may be. While it may be too early to take the title off Jericho, Moxley may be the best choice to serve that purpose.

The folks at AEW really do have a huge decision to make in 2020, but whatever direction this goes in, the company will be in safe hands.
