On the 1st January 2019, we saw a huge announcement of the wealthy Khan Family opening up a new wrestling company called All Elite Wrestling.

It was also revealed that The Elite, which consists of Cody and The Young Bucks, would be the executive vice presidents of the new promotion.

However, despite the fact that AEW has created such a big buzz in the wrestling world, the announcement of the new company is one that had WWE on notice. WWE and AEW have been raiding the independent scene to gain as many future stars as they possibly can.

With rumours of many superstars in the WWE being upset with their position in the company, here are 5 WWE superstars who may possibly jump over to AEW.

#5 Mike and Maria Kanellis

Could the duo of love be on their way out of the WWE?
Could the duo of love be on their way out of the WWE?

At the Money in the Bank PPV event on June 18th, 2017, we witnessed Mike Kanellis arrive at the WWE alongside his real-life wife, Maria Kanellis.

The duo was assigned to the Smackdown brand, and it seemed as if they were going to receive a big push due to the efforts that were put into their characters at first, but this wasn't the case at all.

Instead, we saw Mike only compete in four matches on Smackdown before going to rehab as Maria was also revealed to be pregnant at the same time. We then saw both of them drafted to the Raw brand during the 2017 Superstar Shake-Up, but Mike failed to make a name for himself on Raw.

On the October 10th, 2018 edition of 205 Live, Mike and Maria then made their debut for the Cruiserweight exclusive show as Mike had brutally attacked Lince Dorado. But even though 205 Live is the best destination for Mike at the moment, himself and Maria haven't had the best of luck on the show as of late.

There are also rumours circulating around the wrestling world that Mike and Maria Kanellis had requested to be released from their WWE contracts.

Maria has reportedly denied those statements, but with the poor booking of the duo, it would be no surprise to see them move over to AEW.

#4 The Revival

The Revival has been underutilised
The Revival has been underutilised

Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson made a name for themselves over on NXT where they were two-time NXT Tag Team Champions.

They were also the winners of the 2016 NXT year-end Match of the Year award due to their excellent two-out-of-three falls match against #DIY. The Revival also won the 2016 NXT year-end Tag Team of the Year award.

Unfortunately, The Revival's success from NXT hasn't translated onto the main roster at all. When the duo had made their Raw debut, they had defeated The New Day in a tag team match as they were clearly on the cusp of big things.

But instead, they have been used to make other tag teams look good, thus not being used to the best of their abilities.

It was also reported that after The Revival's match against The Lucha House Party on the 14th January 2019 episode of Raw, that Wilder and Dawson had also asked for their release from their WWE contracts.

This doesn't come as a shock to any wrestling fan, as AEW seem to be keen on bringing The Revival to their company for a dream rivalry with The Young Bucks.

#3 Goldust

Goldust is the brother of Cody, who is one of AEW's vice presidents.

Another Superstar that may jump ship to AEW is none other than Goldust himself. Goldust is the brother of Cody, who is currently playing a major role in the new AEW company, so it wouldn't be unlikely at all for Goldust to join him.

The Bizarre One doesn't have an efficient in-ring role in the WWE as he is 49 years old, and there is a huge wave of talents in the company that are emerging, leaving no room for Goldust.

It's clear that the WWE doesn't need him, and that AEW would benefit greatly from having Goldust signed to their company.

With the potential of Goldust joining AEW, there is so much that could be done. You could have Goldust team up with his brother Cody, or the two men could face off in a retirement match for Goldust to give him the send-off that he deserves.

The last time we saw the two brothers face off in a WWE ring, it was a feud that was hugely wasted. Seeing Goldust in AEW could also lead to a potential role as a producer.

#2 Dolph Ziggler

The Show-Off has been criminally underused.
The Show-Off has been criminally underused.

When it comes to talents who are undervalued, The Show-Off should make it to the top of everybody's list.

There isn't a single person in the WWE that hasn't been screwed over in terms of booking than Dolph Ziggler himself. Rumours always emerge every year in the wrestling world that Ziggler may leave the WWE, but this year they seem to be more realistic than ever.

There have been so many opportunities for the WWE to push Ziggler as their big face, but none of those chances was taken.

When Ziggler won his second World Heavyweight Championship belt on the Raw after Wrestlemania 29, it created one of the biggest reactions in WWE history as the entire arena had erupted in cheers that night.

But WWE then booked Ziggler to lose the title at Payback 2013 against Alberto Del Rio as he had only held the title for two months.

Another moment to pull the trigger on a huge Ziggler push was at Survivor Series 2014 when Ziggler was the sole survivor for Team Cena as they had defeated Team Authority with the help of Sting. However, The Authority was then later reinstated which made that huge win amount to nothing.

It's clear that Ziggler's passion is when it comes to the wrestling ring, but the booking of his character has been terrible despite the fact that he has won multiple championships which makes it highly likely that he may join AEW.

In AEW, there would be many opportunities for Ziggler to be the face of that brand, with potential rivalries against the likes of Neville and Hangman Page.

#1 Dean Ambrose

The Moral Compass of WWE may also be on his way out.
The Moral Compass of WWE may also be on his way out.

Last but definitely not least on the list, comes none other than The Moral Compass of WWE himself, Dean Ambrose.

This week has been huge for Dean Ambrose already as it was reported that he had handed in his notice to leave the company. But now WWE has confirmed that he would be leaving after WrestleMania.

The rumours state that Ambrose is frustrated with his spot in the WWE, as he clearly hasn't been happy with the way that he has been booked. Ambrose also reportedly rejected a huge pay-rise which means that he may be serious about leaving.

Ambrose is another superstar that has a big passion for the WWE, and if you've watched him during his independent days, then you will know that his character just isn't the same as it was before.

The Lunatic Fringe doesn't have the same freedom that he used to, which has resulted in lacklustre promos.

If Ambrose ever joined AEW, he would without a shadow of a doubt be the biggest face of the new company. But most importantly, he would be allowed the opportunity to shine the brightest as he does whilst being Jon Moxley.
