Asian Games 2014: Indian sepaktakraw teams crash out

Incheon, Sep 25 (IANS) The Indian sepaktakraw teams were Thursday knocked out of the Asian Games with both men and women losing all three group matches of their respective groups at the Bucheon Gymnasium here.

The Indian men and women teams ended their disappointing campaigns losing to South Korea by an identical margin, 0-3.

The South Korean teams were far superior than their Indian counterparts, winning the first two games of all three Regus comfortably.

In the men's section, South Korea won Regu 1 21-14 and 21-11, clinched Regu 2 21-6, 21-7 before wrapping up Regu 3 21-5, 21-6 to finish the contest.

The men's team had lost their Group A opening match to Japan 1-2 before going down against Thailand 0-3.

The women's team followed a similar path, losing Regu 1 8-21 and 16-21. They went down 18-21 and 16-21 in Regu 2 before surrendering Regu 3 13-21 and 7-21.

India had earlier lost 0-3 to Myanmar in their opening match and went down 0-3 against Thailand in Group B.

The semi-finals of both the categories are scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
