5 Pay-Per-Views the WWE should bring back

The ECW roster Fans at times don’t tend to watch the weekly episodes of RAW or Smackdown and only watch the PPV’s that include most of the dose of action and entertainment that they aspire.PPV’s hold a great importance in the WWE calender as it showcases the best swerves and incidents of an ongoing feud and usually contan the most talked about events and matches that the WWE fans actually care about. Over the years the we have seen some great PPV’s being discontinued due to some or the other reason as being low on sales or irrelevant to the current product. But if we look at it from a developmental view, those PPV’s would do a great deal to add on to the overall impact of what the WWE has to offer. In this slideshow we take a look at some of the defunct PPV’s that the WWe should contemplate on bringing back that would surely be a great success.

#1 Taboo Tuesday/ Cyber Sunday

It is always great when the fans are given the power to choose possible opponents or a match stipulation even though deep down you know for a fact that the WWE is actually the ones pulling the strings.

Nevertheless it hightens up the anticipation for every match on the card and that is a good thing when it comes to the predictable product that the WWE usually is accustomed to offer. Tabbo Tuesday and Cyber Sunday were really great in doing what most of the current PPV’s fail in doing so, that is amping up the interest. When you feel you have an influence over a decision, it makes you much more intersted in knowing the outcome.

The power of the internet has grown manifold over the years and in the current scenario would be a great option that the WWE should bank on. Instaed of Battleground, Cyber Sunday or Taboo tuesday can be a great PPV, that would ensure PPV buys if booked properly with some good match ups on the card.

#2 One Night Stand/ Invasion

Now this is something that the WWE should certainly bring back considering the meganomious success of NXT and the exposure it would give to the upcoming stars from the Developmenal system that has grown on to become one of the best wrestling shows on WWE TV.

It would be awesome to see the likes of Samoa Joe, Finn Balor and Apollo crews go up against the likes of John Cena, Randy Orton, Rollins and the rest in putting up some five star classics that would put the spotlight on the budding talent at NXT. It also gives them a stage to potray a prequel of what the main roster fans should expect when they eventually move up.

Back in the day it was the ECW and the WCW, in the invasion angle, now it is NXT, which would surpass all of the previous PPV’s due to the amount of talent these wrestlers have after toilling hard in the indies for years, Day in and out we are treated to NXT chants from the WWE universe and there s no better way to capatilize on it by having a one off NXT vs WWE main roster PPV, that would be a great spectacle indeed.

By the way NXT is progressing we might see it come into friution pretty soon indeed.

#3 King Of The Ring

The WWE recently tried to revive the King Of the Ring tournament, but missed the spot as it was done during a random episode of RAW. That is where they got it wrong as KOFR has a lineage of producing winners who are legends in the WWE such as Stone Cold and Booker T.

King Of The Ring as a different PPV all together is the viable option the WWE should think about as it gives an opportuninity to have novel matches and put the spotlight on an upcoming star that has improved leaps and bounds.

A potential shot at the WWE or any other championship at the next PPV sets things up really well when it comes to storyline purposes and acts as a legitimate push for stars who are in dire need of it.

The likes of Cesaro, Neville and Owens would thrive on such a victory which can easily transcend into a major championship victory by some proper booking. Wade Barret was made to look like a joke with his recent KOTR victory but that would have not been the case if it was a separate PPV all together with a notable prize for the winner.

#4 In your House

In Your House was a novel PPV idea that the WWE came up with in the late 1990’s that was in competition with WCW when it was at its heights. The best part about the PPV was that it had themes of the major feud that dominated the proceedings such as In Your House: Rage In the Cage that had a stell cage main event and In Your House : Buried Alive and so on.

It was a top notch way of highlighting the major theme of the PPV and it can be used in the current scheme of things. A PPV built around Ryback can have a Feed Me More tag or if it is built around Bray Waytt it can have a Follow The Buzzards theme.

The current NXT Takeover PPV’s follow the said route with each event having a differnt angle giving emphasis on the major proposition of the night such as the the upcomig revolving around ‘Respect’.

#5 Bragging Rights

The recent slump in SmackDown’s performance and the one-dimensional WWE product is enough to validate the return of Bragging Rights. The WWE has announced that they would be pushing SmackDown as a top brand as soon as 2016 comences and the best way to do that would be a brand split which is the need of the hour.

Having a dedicated roster for both RAW and Smackdown and individual titles for the same would help increase the viewership of Smackdown. Bragging Rights can be the PPV that merges both the brands and can include some great Champion vs Champion matches to determine the top show of the lot.

SmackDown needs to be brought back to its former days of glory and a PPV dedicated to it with a proper brand split is what can do the trick. If the WWE is really serious about the revival and resurgence of SmackDown then this is the way they should go about which the idea shared by a majority of the wrestling community. A show that had some great moments and was a must watch entity of WWE TV has become into a predictable borefest with too much repetition.

Bragging Rights and a brand spilt would change that perception nd would facilitate a revival.
