El Clasico is arguably the biggest rivalry in football when it comes to clubs, and every Clasico has its own unique event. However, there are certainoccurrences that happen in almost every Clasico, and in this slideshow, we are going to highlight five of those instances.

The sad part of the beautiful game: Diving, play-acting and simulations. El Clasico showcases the nastiest, the most outrageous dives of the modern game with players such as Segio Busquets, Neymar, Angel Di Maria, Pepe and many more pulling stunts that gives a bad name to the game.

That doesn't end there, however, as fights and intense rivalries are quite the common scene in these heated games.

#2 The referee is always the villain

This is perhaps one of the most common sights from El Clasico, and more so last week when we saw controversial decsions by Alberto Undiano Mallenco, the match referee in Real Madrid's 3-4 defeat at the recent El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu.

No matter which team wins, the referee is usually the first one to be on the losing side.

#3 There is always a goal. Always!

It has been around 27 years since an El Clasico ended in a goalless draw; another reason why it is touted as the one of the biggest matches in European football. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona showcase the best of footballers with the likes of Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema, Andres Iniesta, Gareth Bale, Neymar and many such, and with so much firepower, you would expect a goal or two.

#4 Increased Social Media engagement

El Clasico is one of the few matches which is viewed by almost every set of a football fan no matter which club they support. Almost 12 years back, the El Clasico was dubbed by Spanish media as the "Match of the Century," and was watched by more than 500 million people.

Now more than a decade later, people tend to use social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter or even Sportskeeda quite honestly.

#5 The loser loses the league

More evident in the present, El Clasico partially tells you the story of the league as Real Madrid and Barcelona always go hand in hand in the league table, and the six points involved in both of the matches always end up being the deciding point of the league. [Image Courtesy: fcblive]
